Wolfriver padded up to the base of the hill upon which Korkea Maa sat. "Wowww..." she mewed admiringly. "It's even bigger than he said." Narrowing her eyes against the sun, the young warrior started up the hill, pawstep by pawstep. Some of the rocks slid a little as she stepped, so she found herself shifting her tail frantically to keep her balance more than once. Halfway up the hill, Wolfriver stopped and glanced down. "That's a loooong way," she meowed. "I wonder..."

Hazeltear stepped confidently onto the rocks, keeping her ears pricked for any sounds that might signal that her mentor was on her way. Ever since Swallowsong had told her that she was too wimpy to climb the plateaus, she had gone out of her way to prove her wrong. And now, here she was, breaking almost every single rule in the warrior code to climb Korkea Maa. Great StarClan, I'm a mousebrain! she thought, and slowed down a bit. But at least I'm a mousebrain with guts! Filled with new determination, she resumed her long walk up the hill.

About to move, Wolfriver pricked up her ears at the sound of rocks shifting. "Huh?" The sound didn't come again. "Hm...must've been some prey or something." She looked down the slope, her thoughts back on track. "Yup. If it doesn't work..." she shrugged, then wheeled around to place her paws forward down the slope, throwing all her wait behind them as she swept her back paws into line.
Wolfriver slid forward down the steep slope on her stomach, ignoring the occasional rock that bumped underneath her. There was enough grass that it wasn't too painful. "Whooohooo!" Wolfriver shouted, twisting around to roll down the remaining distance on her side. At last she came to a stop at the bottom, laughing so hard she shook. "That's the most fun I've had in weeks!" she exclaimed, stumbling unsteadily to her feet.

Hazeltear stiffened. She was sure that she could hear whooping and cheering, and it was coming from a point almost directly beneath her. She tried to ignore it, but her curiosity was insatiable. Tentatively, she placed a paw on one of the rocks and started down. Then she slipped. "AAH!" she yowled, and slid down the slope backwards on he belly. Wincing as sharp rocks dug into her pelt, she fell and landed in a heap - right next to Wolfriver.

Wolfriver had been shaking the dust from her fur when a loud thunk sounded from behind her. She turned, fur still ruffled, to see Hazeltear sitting on the ground beside her. "Oh..." she said, surprised. "Hi Hazeltear! Where'd you come from?"

Hazeltear blinked. It was just Wolfriver! "Um..." she mewed, obviously not wanting to say why she was there. After all, it was a pretty stupid reason. Sighing, she mewed, "Swallowsong dared me to climb Korkea Maa - and I was dumb enough to listen to her." Looking at her Clanmate, she was sure that Wolfriver would send her straight back to camp.

ooc - Swallowsong didn't dare her...oh well, I guess we could say that's what happened Ripplestream was out looking for herbs when she heard the voices of Hazeltear and Wolfriver. Not wanting to bother the two young warriors in whatever they're doing, she turned back to look for some comfrey.

ooc: I know, I couldn't think of a legitimate reason why she'd want to go there....xD

Wolfriver's eyes grew wider. "Oh, a dare?" she meowed. She glanced up at the top of the hill, then back at Hazeltear. "Well then, you have to climb it!" Wolfriver stood, gesturing with her tail toward the huge hill. "C'mon, let's go! All the way this time. I'll go with you." She padded to the base of the hill, searching for a good place to put her paw for the first step.

Hazeltear stared at Wolfriver in disbelief. Instead of making her go back to camp, she was actually going to climb the mountain with her. She's crazier that I am, she thought, and smiled at her friend. "Thanks," she mewed. Climbing by herself was a pretty daunting task; Wolfriver would help keep her mind off the fact that she was 50 tail-lengths above the ground. Placing her paws on the rocks like her companion, she soon found a bunch of rocks that weren't loose. She jumped onto the rocks, and began her journey up Korkea Maa.

"Sure, no problem!" Wolfriver mewed affably, still searching for a good place to start. Spotting one, she crouched, then boosted herself up the slope to land on dirt that was slightly more level. "Happy to help. Besides, I like climbing!" she huffed, digging her claws in so she wouldn't slide backward down the slope.

Once Ripplestream had collected a respectable amount of comfrey, she turned around to go back camp. A few loose rocks clattered down from Korkea Maa, and she jumped back to avoid them. Glancing casually up at Korkea Maa, the ShoreClan medicine was shocked; there were two cats climbing up! Taking a closer look, she saw Hazeltear and Wolfriver. She raced over and called up, "Hazeltear! Wolfriver! What do you two think you are doing?" she demanded.

Wolfriver looked down in surprise to see Ripplestream standing at the base of the hill far below. "Climbing!" Wolfriver called back in answer to the medicine cat's question, boosting herself farther up the hill. "We want to...ah...to take a look around for foxes from the top. We're afraid there might be some near here, so we want to check. Just to be safe." She lifted a paw to wave it reassuringly, then turned to focus on the rocks as she continued up the hill. "Keep climbing," Wolfriver muttered to Hazeltear, barely loud enough for her to hear a foxlength away. "We're halfway there."

Scarletfire was taking a walk in the sacred territories. She decided to go to korkea maa and see the gigantic plateau. On her way over, she scented strong scents of ShoreClan. Curious, she followed the scent untill she came upon Ripplestream, who was gazing up at Wolfriver and Hazeltear. "What are they doing?" she asked unaggressively, also watching the cats' progress up the steep ground.

"Wolfriver said they were going to look around for foxes," Ripplestream dropped her bundle of comfrey to answer the StormClan deputy, "Which I find hard to believe," she added. "Should we stop them?" the medicine cat asked. "It's quite dangerous if the don't know where they are going."
