Pinestorm paced back and forth restlessly as he waited for his new apprentice, Acidpaw. I'm finally a mentor! he thought in jubilation. I have an apprentice! He had been dying for an apprentice ever since he became a warrior, and he was honoured that Midnightstar had chosen to give him an apprentice - an a promising one, at that. He ground his paws into the damp sand at the edge of the bank for a moment, and savored how good that felt for a heartbeat. His paws were starting to ache from all that walking. "Acidpaw!" he called, as he glimpsed a familiar silvery outline.

Acidpaw closed into the river bank. She was exited for her first training and by the side of Pinestorm made her more exited. She then saw his sillouhette, and she fell to a crouch i want to inpress him with a sneak attack. So she circled to his back side with quiet stealthy steps. She fell closer to the ground and shook her haunches, and then she leaped in his direction.

Pinestorm whipped around and promptly shoved his apprentice back lightly with his paw. "Lesson number one," he admonished. "Never leave an opening for your enemy to attack." He sat back down on his haunches and blinked warmly at Acidpaw. "Although, it was a good idea for you to act so stealthily. If I hadn't known that a cat would be coming, I probably would have let it go. Remember, I can smell you because of the way the wind is blowing." He got up calmly and faced his apprentice once more. "Now then," he purred. "Attack me. You don't have the advantage of surprise on your side now, so what are you going to do?"

Acidpaw thoght for a second, and found out the purrfect idea. Acidpaw ran straight after Pinestorm and when she got about 5 mouse tails away, she feinted and fell to the side and pushed her body weight towards Pinestorm.

Pinestorm's eyes widened in surprise as his apprentice tried to trick him. He caught the feint, however, and managed to skip neatly away. It seemed that his apprentice was a tricky one, for sure. "That was excellent," he mewed, eyes glowing, as he pounced on top of her. "I'm bigger and stronger, so what do you do now?" he mewed, as he waited for her counterattack.

Acidpaw paniced "wait i cant let him get the best of me but i cant turn on my tummy' she thought harder. She then pushed her self up as much as possible, and rolled to her side, she fell to a limp and tightened her muscles and pulled her front limb over and batted at Pinestorm for a distraction, and with all of her momentum she turned to her stomach and pushed Pinstorm off of her.

Pinestorm was taken by surprise, and so his grip loosened as Acidpaw pushed him away. As she rolled, his grip loosened even further, so that he had to let go altogether. Quick as thought, he sprang up, and battered her with his forepaws. "Excellent," he repeated, panting, as he rested on his haunches. "You have the makings of a great warrior." Thinking that she might have been slightly discouraged by not being able to best him, he purred, "Don't worry; by the time I'm done with you, you'll be able to push me off and roll me all the way to the border." His whiskers twitched in satisfaction. "Now then," he mewed in what he thought was a teacherly voice. "Today, I'm going to teach you a basic move. Since you're fairly small, being an apprentice, this move is perfect for you." Pinestorm crouched down, and mewed, "All you have to do is scoot under your opponent and trip their paws out from under them. This way, they're unable to move for a while, or at least until you follow up with an attack." He jogged for a few moments, and then rolled slightly, kicking out at an imaginary foe with his paws. "Now then, you try it on me," he meowed.

Acidpaw thought for a moment to see where she would start her new tecnique, so Acidpaw went from the back. She pulled up under Pinestorm and pulled his paws out from under him and pushed him off the ground into the air. 'Hopefully that impressed him!' She thought and pulled her self onto her haunches in defense

OOC: Pinestorm's a guy. xD Pinestorm shifted his weight so that he wouldn't end up sprawled on the ground, and landed slightly unevenly as he stumbled to the side. Actually, he had done so to give his apprentice an opening to attack; he was curious to see what she would do. A good warrior always took advantage of his or her enemy's weaknesses, and hopefully, Acidpaw would be able to spot this heartbeat-long slip-up. Now or never, he thought hopefully.

Acidpaw saw that Pinestorm had slipped up.' yes an opening at a 2 in1 shot will really get him going'. Acidpaw thought. She then darted at Pinestorms side sending him to the far side of Acidpaw.

Lol, it's okay. I've done it a billion times before. As strange as it sounded, even to him, Pinestorm grinned as he crashed onto his side. "That was great," he wheezed. He winced as he got up; he was sore from a previous battle wound, and it was paining him just now. Remembering what he was there for, he mewed, "Hang on a sec," and then switched back into teacher mode. I'm not as young as I used to be, he thought ruefully. Truth be told, he was still technically a new warrior, but fighting with his apprentice made him feel old.
"Now then," he mewed. "Like I said, that was great. You managed to trip me and take advantage of my opening. However, instead of just ramming into me, you should follow up with a move to a vulnerable area, like my face or underbelly. If you encounter an enemy bigger than you, and you definitely will, crashing into them has less of an effect than aiming for one specific place. In fact, it might end up as a problem for you."

"Oh, uhh sorry Pinestrom i will do better next time" she felt that she didnt want to her hurt her new Mentor although she wouldnt be able to hurt him much anyways. "Are you ok Pinestorm?"Acid paw examined when she saw the limp as Pinestorm got up after Acidpaws attack.

Pinestorm grinned sheepishly at his apprentice as he noticed her concern. "Don't worry, you didn't hurt me," he mewed, while silently berating himself for letting his discomfort show through so easily. "It's from...before." He took another moment to compose himself. "Right, then, that was great for a first try. Do you want to try again?" he meowed. Somewhat ruefully, he added, "Pebblestone made me practice a move over and over again until I got it right. I'm afraid I'll have to do the same for you." A challenge sparkled in his amber eyes as he straightened up and mewed, "Come on; don't be shy."
