Acidpaw awwed at his crouch and landing. She then tried it for her self. Acidpaw fell into a silent crouch steping lightly avoiding twigs, as Pinestorm did, she readied herself and pounced, tightning her belly so try to land lightly and not heavy footed. She landing quite silently, but not sure if Pinestorm was impressed. She then stared nervously at Pinestorm for a reply.

Pinestorm nodded in approval. "You learn things so fast, I wouldn't be surprised if you became a warrior next moon!" he purred, and then remembered that mice were sensitive to noises. Especially the sound of...cats. He slid smoothly into the hunter's crouch, and signaled with his tail to his apprentice. He could hear a quiet rustling in the leaves. "Alright, show me what you can do," he mouthed. OOC: It's too short, but I'm brain-dead today. Sorry! Dx

Acidpaw focused in on the rustling. She slowed into a hunters crouch stepping while pushing her weight somewhere other than her shoulders and legs to stay quiet. She notice and saw the mouse a little wood mouse nibbling on something that distracted Acidpaw. She saw the mouse finish, Shoot, she thought. She had just enough time to tighten her muscles and pounce before the mouse turned around she dealt a blow to the neck almost missing the mouse all together. She trotted over to Pinestorms side, Embarrassed hoping Pinestorm hadn't noticed her mistake, but in a way so triumphantly that she was learning so fast.

Pinestorm noticed his young apprentice's slip-up, but chose to let it slide. "Not bad for a first try," he meowed warmly. "Now that you can hunt on your own, you can move a little ways away. After you catch a couple more mice, we can call it a day." His muscles flexed under a chocolate-spotted coat as he bounded away, landing lightly on his pawtips. After he was at least five tail-lengths away, he stopped and opened his mouth, drawing air past his scent glands. An overpowering smell - and very nearly stench - of vole coated the inside of his mouth, making him almost drool. His whiskers twitched as he spotted a leaf rustling on the forest floor, shivering in an unnatural way. Swiftly, he flicked out a claw and speared the vole, breaking its neck with his teeth as he let the warm body fall. One down, he thought, and then turned to watch his apprentice's progress.

Acidpaw peered over at her mentors catch 'He makes it look so easy' Acidpaw Thought. She tries to mimic what her mentor had done. She slowly opened her mouth to taste the air, when she noticed a mouse scent it filled her lungs as she breathed in. She saw the mouse and stepped even quiter and slowly she pounced on her prey to find she was sqare on top of it and ended her kill with a swift blow to the neck. " I think thats the best catch for me all day!" she wispered exitedly.

OMG! I've been gone for so long! Forgive meeee! -Begs- Pinestorm's ear swiveled as he heard his apprentice's excited whisper. She must have caught something great, he thought warmly, as he crouched down directly behind a vole. As he crept closer, he heard a bird call out. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard, and he was quite fond of listening to bird calls. In fact, as a kit, he had once sneaked out of the nursery just so that he could be able to hear the dawn chorus. As he gazed upwards, searching for the source of the music, he straightened up, creating just enough noise for the vole to notice and scurry away. Mouse dung! he thought, as he snapped his head back to where the vole had been moments before. The warrior looked around warily. I hope no cat saw that, he thought, and ESPECIALLY not Acidpaw. OOC: Pinestorm's such a dork sometimes. xD
