OOC: Remember the posting minimum. ^^ Pinestorm rolled over neatly, as his paws were swept out from under him. "Good!" he panted, as he sprang up and cuffed his apprentice on the ears with his large paws. He then scooted around, and rammed into her side. Quick as thought, he pinned her down with both forepaws - one on her neck, and the other on her belly. "Give up?" he mewed, grinning like a maniac." ((Sorry for the powerplaying, but it's easier for me this way. >.<

OOC: oh yeah sorry and PP doesnt bother me makes things exiting =]]
Acidpaw panic for a short moment "I never give up!" she yelled and pushed all of her bodyweight of her back, and power pushed Pinestorm to the side, and sent her Mentor to the left side of her. Acidpaw then rammed his side before he could recover. "Ha ha the question is when will 'you' give up" Acidpaw said triumphantly.

Pinestorm sprang up as he was shoved roughly aside, and barreled into his apprentice. He followed up with several blows to her body with his forepaws, and rammed his head just below her neck. "Enough," he panted, before she could retaliate again. "That was really good. And your determination will help you become a warrior - it'll be helpful some day." He sat down on his haunches. "After we rest a bit, would you like to go hunting or fight some more?" he asked. "Since you're a new apprentice, you'll have to do both to see where your strengths are. Then, after we've found what you're best at, we'll work on refining whatever it is, as well as strengthening your ability in your weaker area."[/color]

Pinestorm nodded in approval. "StarClan knows you're not stealthy enough already," he teased, as he led the way out of the training hollow. He stopped after a few paces, and glanced down at his apprentice. "All right then - tell me what you can scent," he mewed promptly. "Can we hunt here? Is there any prey?" He could detect a hint of vole, but the area had a stronger scent of thrush - apparently, birds liked to nest here, because of the thick foliage. He didn't think that Acidpaw was quite ready for something as flighty as a bird yet, but his apprentice was certainly full of surprises.

"Well alright", Acidpaw said shyly. She tasted the air and she could sense birds, but she didnt think she was that stealthy enough for birds just yet.'Well maybe i can try', she thought. Then she picked up a very small hint of vole."Hmm, i smell many birds in the area and i think.... vole maybe?" she asked Pinestorm, hoping she was correct in her guess.

Pinestorm blinked in surprise for several heartbeats. Evidently, his apprentice was a fine hunter as well as a fighter. "Wow," he mewed out loud. "That's correct. there are a few voles here, but many more thrushes." He thought for a moment, tipping his head to its side. New apprentices normally didn't start hunting for birds until their second moon, but Acidpaw just might be able to, he thought carefully. Hmm... His mind made up, he turned to his apprentice. "We're going to go ahead of the other apprentices today and start hunting for birds," he announced. "Since we can't fly, like they can, we have to hunt for them on the ground. Birds are less sensitive to vibrations than small rodents like mice, but you have to make sure to approach from directly behind them, like this." He crouched down on the ground and demonstrated the traditional hunter's crouch. He then began to slink forwards, making sure to tread lightly. The spotted warrior finished off with a pounce, and turned back towards his apprentice. "Make sure to unsheathe your claws only when you pounce," he added. "They can make an awful lot of noise if you forget."

Acid paw was really exited now, "Yes, yes ok." she smiled. she picked up a sparrow scent. Acidpaw followed it, very quietly she poked her head up and saw it. It had a fairly nice size. 'I hope i can get thins i dont want to embarass myself infront of my mentor.' She thought. Acidpaw crept closer to it and she missed it. The sparrow turned around in panic. "No!" the bird picked off the ground headed for a tree, Acidpaw bolted after it. She was really close to it nowthe sparrow then scaled up the tree to its nest. Acidpaw followed she unsheathed her claws once she hit the tree and bolted up the tree no problem. She saw the mother sparow on its nest and she pounced. "Rats!" she had the sparow but she slipped off the tree, into a very long drop to the ground. Thinking fast she gave a kill blow to the neck of the bird and landed on the ground in a loud thud, her legs gave out. Acidpaw moaned and slowly got up with the sparrow in her mouth. She turned and looked at Pinestorm sheepishly, tired, hopeing Pinestorm was at least a little impressed, though she didnt sneak up on it quietly.

Pinestorm was impressed that she had caught the bird, but it was dampened by the fact that she had just scared off nearly all the prey from this part of the forest. "Nice catch, but I think the prey in EmberClan could hear that," he mewed dryly. "Remember: even if you've caught your prey, it'll have been for nothing if you scare off all the other prey and end up with just one piece of prey. A messy kill is never a good kill." Pinestorm's whiskers twitched. Was he being too hard on his apprentice? "Anyways, you caught it - good job," he mewed more kindly. "We'll have to move to another spot, though. Come along." Then he remembered how far she had fallen. "Should we call it a day for now?" he mewed in concern. "You fell quite a long way."

OOC: Happy birthday! Pinestorm nodded approvingly, as he watched his young apprentice get to her feet. "Let's get moving then," he mewed decisively, but not unkindly. He beckoned with his tail, as he added, "I wasn't joking when I said that you'd scared all the prey off. Let's try a bit further into the forest." He padded along at his usual pace, hoping that his apprentice would be able to keep up. Pebblestone had never slowed down so that he could catch up, in an attempt to increase his stamina. the chocolate warrior slowed down, and then halted. "Okay, Acidpaw," he meowed. "What do you scent here?"

OOC:Thank you =]]
"Hmm." the Young apprentice opened her mouth to let the breeze carry on to the roof of her mouth. "I sense vole, and some birds, chaffinch im sure." she replied back. she slowed into a crouch walking toward the vole sent.

Pinstorm nodded approvingly. "The chaffinch is fresh, and there's a stale jay scent, too," he added. His tail flicked back and forth. "Try not to climb any more trees or scare off more prey," he mewed softly, whiskers twitching in amusement. His paws itched to hunt himself, but he reminded himself forcefully that he had to watch his apprentice's progress before doing any hunting of his own. His ears swiveled as he pinpointed a vole scuffling around, nearly dashing straight into his paws. Quick as thought, Pinestorm flattened it with one paw, and sank his claws deep into its neck. Hurriedly, he turned back to his apprentice, not wanting to miss a second. Well, the vole made me do it, he thought.

Acid paw sated enviously at Pinestorms swift killing skill. "Ok." Acidpaw then focused her senses on the chaffinch near by, laying close to the floor in the direction it was in. She then heard it rustle in the bracken, She parted her mouth to taste the air, and it was a sweet kill she was hoping. She rocked on her haunches un sheathed her claws and pounced. The little creature was no match as Acidpaw made a swift kill to the neck. She trotted over to Pinestorm happily, as she made a very stealthy kill she thought.

Pinestorm could barely contain his grin as he mewed, "Great catch. Very stealthy." He straightened up as he added, "Now that you know the basics of hunting birds, let's go on to catching mice, voles, and other small creatures." He cleared his throat for a moment. "Mice are very sensitive to small vibrations in the ground, as well as even small noises, so if you're stalking one, make sure to step lightly and softly, like this." He demonstrated the hunter's crouch, and began to creep forwards more slowly than the first time. His paws carefully avoided the small twigs and debris on the ground, and made no sound as he launched gracefully into a pounce. Even his landing as silent. "Now you try - after you've got it down perfectly, we'll try it out for real."
