Apparently Seamist thinks I'll be judged by the highest powers and will be condemned, Ripplestream had a surprisingly amused look on her face. Then her eyes turned stormy and angry again, "Go ahead and tell Midnightstar, do you think I care?" she hissed through clenched teeth. "And no," she meowed in a stronger voice, "I promise YOU I WON'T regret it." She looked over at Shadowfire, only to find him attacking Cloudmist. "No!" she gasped. However much she wanted to rake her claws down the tortoiseshell warrior's pelt, she knew she couldn't without betraying Shadowfire. She took a step forward to stop her mate, but as soon as the fight started, it had ended. The silvery blue medicine cat looked back at her own Clan mate, head raised and her eyes challenged Seamist to say something.
Cloudmist recoiled and lashed out blindly with her claws, but all she got was the air around her. She hadn't been expecting an attack, especially not from her best friend and former mate. Her muzzle stung from where Shadowfires' claws had met her muzzle and she stood up from where the black tom had pushed her down. "No," her fur bristled and she took a step backwards from Shadowfire, "I'm not okay." Her voice was icy, icy enough to freeze the water in a still puddle.

OOC: Sea's all Star-Clan-y now. xD We needs Tilly - message her? Seamist's eyes glazed over for a heartbeat in confusion. She had implied it, but she had never said that Ripplestream would regret it - did she? "StarClan's members will never speak to you as long as you continue breaking the warrior code," she mewed with an air of smugness. "Who'll it be, Ripplestream? Shadowfire or Pebblestone?" She held Ripplestream's gaze levelly, and with an air of disdain. She no longer held any respect for this she-cat, the one who had betrayed her Clan by taking her [Seamist's] brother as her mate. Then, as all hell broke loose, Seamist could only stare at her brother and the stench of blood hanging sickly in the air. "Who are you?" Seamist mewed softly. "Because I know you aren't my brother. We're of the same blood, perhaps, but I refuse to acknowledge you as my brother until you stop meeting with her." She jerked her head towards Ripplestream in disgust. "What happened to the old Shadowfire? The one who snapped and annoyed every cat, but was loyal to his Clan and kin. The one who I knew."
Shadowfire's ears flattened as he backed away slowly. I may love her, but I don't think Ripplestream is worth this anymore, he thought in frustration. He was crushed, and hated the fact that both Cloudmist AND Seamist would hate him if he chose Ripplestream, while Ripplestream would hate him if he chose not to. "I - I'm so sorry," he stammered out once more. "I...I..." What he wanted to say was, "I'm sorry, Ripplestream". However, he loved the silver she-cat too much - what could he do?

Ripplestream's eyes lost some of their spark as she looked at the pained expression on Shadowfire's face. "No," she whispered so quietly, no cat could hear her, "No." But the silver blue cat knew it would have had to happen some time. She stared at Seamist through clear glistening amber green eyes, "Okay, fine, you win," her voice was defeated and very quiet. Then her gaze went to the black tom she loved so much, "I understand, Shadowfire," she murmured, pressing her nose into his fur, "You can't be loyal to her family and your Clan if you love me." The medicine cat's voice was tight and she thought, How could he do this to me? Just a quarter moon ago, he told me nothing could keep us apart...and now just that is happening...

(Note: I'm not technically supposed to be doing this, because Middy's supposed to be a queen, but I never said that she would stay in there. She has been leader for god knows how long. >> Also, in this, I'm calling her Midnightmoon, which is/was her warrior name, but she's still same old Midnightstar, so call her whatever you wish.)
Blood clung to the air thickly, smothering the familiar scent of the thick meadows. Her heart escalating, the slim black feline darted off in the direction quickly and almost silently. Her moist black nose twitched as she attempted to find out who's blood it was. Along with the familiar smells of Shoreclan, there was another, sharper one. Stormclan, she realized quickly with a low hiss. She increased her speed slightly, feeling adrenaline flood her veins.
She had ordered her three kits to stay behind with her mate, and after seeing her expression, not even Devilkit had argued. Twilightsong had wanted to come with, but she had demanded he not and that he stay put to guard the kits. Even though, he was technically the Shoreclan (temporary) leader, he hadn't argued with her but merely herded the three kits into the den and standing guard at the front. She could only pray that he didn't catch the scent of the blood and panic and follow her. he was hopefully not worried enough to realize that it wasn't her blood.
Following the trail of blood, Midnightstar arrived at the clearing quickly. Taking a moment to calm her breathing, her silver eyes took in the sight. Stormclan cats were indeed there, Cloudmist and Shadowfire she recognized from past Gatherings. She heard one line distinctly from Ripplestream: "Well, Midnightstar herself broke the warrior code, a she-cat leader can't have kits, and guess what? She did." Her heart broke at these words, though Seamist defended her immediately. Cloudmist's muzzle was bleeding from claw wounds, and glancing down at the other cats' paws, she saw that some blood was gathering around Shadowfire's paw. Why would one Stormclan warrior attack another Stormclan warrior? She mused to herself, slightly confused. She was too far away to hear what Ripplestream was saying, but something obviously had gone amiss judging by the various anguished looks she saw.
She finally decided to make her appearance, and broke through the foliage in front of her with ease. "Cloudmist, Shadowfire, what are you doing in Shoreclan?" She asked immediately, her voice sharp as she addressed the two Stormclan warriors. "Ripplestream, why have you not looked at Cloudmist's muzzle?" She asked next, confused as to why a medicine cat had not looked at the injury. Stormclan and Shoreclan were not at war for the moment, so there should not have been a reason. She turned her penetrating, stern silver eyes onto Seamist next. "Is there something you would like to tell me?" Midnightmoon asked pointedly, having heard their discussion on telling her.
Depending on what they told her, she would send Shadowfire and Cloudmist on their way and inform Scarletstar the next chance she had, or ask Twilightsong to do it for her. Then she would deal out the current punishment, with Twilightsong's full support (Or so help him Starclan). If what she thought was true, then she may wind up having to remove Ripplestream from her post as Medicine cat and put her apprentice up instead.

OOC: Ooh. Momo can stay as Medicine cat, right? Or just be replaced temporarily? Shadowfire winced inwardly as Midnightstar appeared. He had been planning to slink back over to the StormClan side of the border after apologizing profusely to both Cloudmist and Ripplestream, but the ShoreClan's leader had just made everything a hundred times more complicated. "...They saw us having a...uh...a disagreement, and tried to stop me," he lied. "I'm sorry ShoreClan had to get involved," he continued, but it'll never happen again. Right, Cloudmist?" he mewed, willing his voice not to tremble as he attempted to avoid his sister's scalding gaze. His tail-tip twitched nervously; obviously, it would take Midnightstar less than a heartbeat to see through his paltry lie, if Seamist didn't tell on him first. It was a clumsily wrought and nearly unbelievable lie, and Midnightstar was no fool. I'm dead, he thought, panicking, as he tried to imagine what Seamist would do to him later. AND Scarletstar, he groaned silently.
Seamist couldn't believe what she was hering. Not only had he had an affair with Ripplestream and attacked his Clanmate, Cloudmist, but he was lying to Midnightstar. The ShoreClan leader. Her leader. She quickly shoved her brother aside and cursed his lying heart in her mind. "My brother and Ripplestream have been meeting each other secretly over the past few moons," she mewed bitterly, almost spitting out the word 'brother'. "I've tried to stop them time and time again, but this time they've gone too far." She swept her tail angrily as she continued, her voice devoid of emotion: "We - Cloudmist and I - heard them together. We pinned them down so that they couldn't get away, but Shadowfire slashed Cloudmist's muzzle and got away." Her sea-green eyes bored into her brother's amber ones, sending a silent message: I hate you. You are not the Shadowfire I knew.
The jet-black warrior could have skinned Seamist alive, but he doubted that it would help his current situation. "It's true," he sighed. "I'm sorry for lying - it's just...I don't want Ripplestream to be in trouble for what I did." He looked Midnightstar directly in the eyes, matching her silver eyes with his amber ones. "It's all my fault," he meowed quietly. "Not Ripplestream's. You can tell Scarletstar to punish me - banish me, if you want - but please don't judge her too harshly. I was the one who suggested that we should meet each other on ShoreClan territory. I was the one who asked her to be my mate. It's all my fault." His heart sank as his eyes wandered down to his paws. He had been lying before, but he honestly didn't want the blame to go to Ripplestream. It's all my fault, he lamented, as a crow flew overhead. He didn't speak crow, but right now, Shadowfire could swear that it was cawing, "Guilty, guilty, guilty."

Ripplestream met her leader's gaze levelly and dipped her head, not backing away or showing any fear. Her heart was pounding a thousand miles an hour, but she was determined not to show it. What would Midnightstar do to her? Exile? KILL her? The medicine cat fought the urge to go and comfort Shadowfire while he was being blamed for everything that happened. She spoke up quietly, "No, Midnightstar, it was partly my fault too," she glared at Seamist, though no other cats saw. Her amber green eyes flashed, "I don't care if you punish me; I don't regret anything I've done." She knew this was bound to shock her leader, but she couldn't find anything else to say.
ooc - Sorry, I couldn't think of anything else....>.<

OOC: Tilly-o! We still needs joo! Seamist fought to keep her expression neutral in front of her leader, but she couldn't help but let the barest hint of a snarl escape her lips. The medicine cat - probably former medicine cat, now that Midnightstar was here - was brazen to the point of arrogance. She could've accepted Shadowfire's generosity, but nooo, she had to be the one that was always right, all the time. A few moons ago, before Pebblestone had died, before she had begun to meet Shadowfire, she had been Seamist's best friend. She had respected the silver she-cat in front of her, and her defiance had very nearly awed her. Right now, her defiance was more like a mix of stubbornness and arrogance, to the point where Seamist felt like clawing some sense into her.

(Kinda depends on how she plays her cards, actually. I'm not planning on it at the moment but if there's one thing Midnightstar hates more than anything, it's a disobedient or thingyy warrior. The worst thing that will happen is that she'll be removed temporarily as MC. Heh)
Her silver eyes widened fractionally as she bluntly lied to (and rather badly at that) by the Stormclan warrior, which Seamist didn't hesitate to correct, and then Shadowfire admit to be true. Her disappointment in her medicine cat ranked up when Ripplestream didn't even seem embarrassed over the fact she had been sneaking around. She had expected more of Ripplestream, honestly. She took a deep breath before speaking. "I will speak to Scarletstar about this, but I will urge her not to banish you, Shadowfire. Unfortunately, the final decision does come down to her.
"Ripplestream, I expected better of you. I appreciate you taking some of the blame, and you will not be exiled or killed. Unfortunately, punishment is still needed, though I will need some time to decide what it shall be." She informed the silver-blue she-cat quietly, but in a tone that said that she better not hear any backtalk. Her silver eyes trailed to look at Cloudmist and Shadowfire steadily. "Cloudmist, Shadowfire. I will give no punishment, but leave Shoreclan. Now. I can see that Ripplestream will refuse to see to that scratch on your cheek, Cloudmist, and you should get that looked at. Expect a meeting from Scarletstar soon, however. Both of you."
She turned to face her two warriors with a stern, demanding look. "Get to camp, Seamist Ripplestream. I'll be right behind you." She meowed out sharply.

"Thingyy" warrior. xD
Seamist's heart thudded painfully for a few moments, and then slowed as she tried to calm herself. Hopefully, her brother would not have to leave his Clan and simply be punished - but if he was banished and wanted to join ShoreClan, she'd be torn. She wanted him as far from Ripplestream as possible - but as close as possible to her. If she ever had to make the choice, she'd probably ask Midnightstar to not let him join the Clan. She would let him become a loner, and wander far, far away from Ripplestream...as well as herself. It's for the best, she told herself firmly.
This was a triumph over Ripplestream, a victory over cats who wished to break the warrior code so severely that it nearly snapped in half - so why was she feeling so hollow inside? Rather than jumping for joy - far from it - she felt like curling up and having a good cry for a while. Which was strange; she hadn't cried since she was a kit. Her sea-green eyes closed for a second as she tried to ignore the hatred and remorse that emanated from her brother - hatred for her, remorse that he'd been caught. No doubt he and Ripplestream would hate her for the rest of their lives, but it was a small price to pay for Shadowfire's safety. Am I being selfish? she pondered bitterly. She truly did want the best best for her brother, but was she poking her nose too deep into his affairs?
Midnightstar's sharp order startled her out of her reverie, and she was glad of it. Perhaps, one day, her mind would snap under the strain of the loss of her beloved mate and brother...but not today. She had too much to do. "Yes, Midnightstar," she rasped, and began to trot briskly back to camp, hoping that Ripplestream would not poison her until she had watched her kits' kits grow up.

Ripplestream lowered her head in shame. Her amber green eyes flickered over her leader's face for a long moment then nodded slowly, "That's fine with me," she turned sullenly and slowly flicked her tail as a good-bye to Shadowfire. The medicine cat didn't look at her love and his Clan mate beside him, but she could feel Cloudmist's green eyes burning into fiercely into her pelt.
Cloudmist tore her gaze from Ripplestream's silver blue fur and to Shadowfire's face. "How could you?" she hissed, but her voice had lost some of it's venom. The tortoiseshell she-cat was still shocked and hurt by her best friend's attack - more like her EX-best friend now... Her hurt was more on the inside, blood was still oozing a little from her muzzle, but she barely noticed it. Nodding politely to the ShoreClan leader, she could barely hold back her emotions. "Thank you, Midnightstar," she meowed quietly as she whirled around and glared at Shadowfire before disappearing from the ShoreClan cats' view.
Ripplestream didn't turn to look at the bushes rustled on the StormClan side of the border. Eyes glimmering with sadness and guilt, she glanced up at the sky, hoping Pebblestone was there. But she remembered what Seamist had said; that made her tail droop and her eyes quickly misted over and turned slightly shiny with not yet fallen tears. Her silver blue head turned farther from her CLan mates and she followed Seamist back to the camp, hoping the former deputy would not look backwards and see her eyes.

OOC: Sea's all emo. O.O Seamist's gaze wandered behind her as she waited for the others to catch up. She could see Ripplestream...but not Midnightstar. Her sharp eyes noted that they were full of tears. Great StarClan; what a kit, she thought in disgust. She herself felt like crying, but she willed herself to not, and save face in front of her leader. What does she have to cry about? she thought bitterly. Pebblestone's will come visit her soon; I lied, but since I hurt his sister so badly, Pebblestone will hate me. Oh, and there's the fact that he's DEAD. Dead and gone, and he's never coming back. Her bitter tirade continued as she lengthened her strides, quickening her pace: And of course, my own brother hates me. My only brother, who still loves Ripplestream, no doubt. Now then, what's the score? 2-nothing Ripplestream. Oh, joy.
The blue-gray tabby's eyes began to sting, as she pulled away from Ripplestream. "What's this?" she murmured softly. "You mouse-brained idiot; now's not the time to cry like some whiny kit. Not now. Not ever." She closed her sea-green eyes as a single tear seeped out from underneath her eyelids, splashing her white paws. She had heard the phrase 'heartbroken' before, and had assumed that it was just an expression - but right now, her heart was definitely breaking; literally. It felt as though some cat was raking its claws, plunging them deep into her chest...
Shadowfire turned and padded over the border, not even glancing at the she-cat he had loved. He knew that he must be breaking her heart; but it needed to be done. His ears flattened slightly as he heard his friend's furious hiss, but he simply looked away. There was so much to be done; so many cats to apologize to...stating with Cloudmist and Seamist. He had refused to listen to them, despite their good advice, and had attacked his best friend. If her muzzle scarred, he would never forgive himself. And Seamist - even though he resented her now for breaking up his relationship, she was his kin. When this all simmered down and he was allowed to go to Gatherings again (and finally forgave her), he and his sister would have a long talk.

Ripplestream glared at Seamist as she called her a mousebrained idiot, but the blue tabby's voice wasn't too unfriendly. It seemed sad, almost heartbreakingly depressed, something the medicine cat had never heard from the strong warrior. She looked closely and saw one single tear on Seamist's cheek. Feeling a rush of sympathy for her, she flicked her tail across the other she-cat's shoulder. It lasted only a heartbeat. It wouldn't be easy to forgive her brother's mate for messing this up for her and Shadowfire. Loping ahead quickly, tears fell from her amber green eyes and dropped onto the ground, leaving a trail of tiny darkened spots on the earth. Another pool of tears formed in her eyes, but she blinked them away, shaking her fur. You ARE a mousebrained idiot. Seamist was right.

OOC: Seamist was actually talking to herself when she said the 'mousebrain' part. xD
Seamist's ears pricked up slightly - she could hear her Clanmates' voices, which meant that they were very close to camp. She turned back once more and spotted Midnightstar - as well as a sniveling Ripplestream. Seamist's own tears - or rather, tear - had since dried up, but looking at Ripplestream made her want to bawl her eyes out. Quickly, she swung her head aside and kept walking, eyes firmly focused on the ground.
OOC: Should we lock this and start another thread in the camp about the punishment and stuff?
