Snowveil seixed the opening as quickly as she had pounced on the thrush. "It was just an innocent mistake. The bird was right on the border, and I leaped too far when I caught it." She grinned hopefully at Wolfriver, sensing that the she-cat wasn't willing to fight. "That's what happened, I swear." It took all Snowveil's self-control to keep her gaze from drifting down to her white paws. So many lies.

Nightfrost looked cooly at Snowviel. Nothing Wolfriver said made much of a differene, so the irritated warrior turned to Hazeltear wit a resigned sigh. "What do you think happened?" he asked. Hopefully the angry she-cat would not outright declare that Snowviel had stolen prey. He didn't want to make a big deal of this, so naturally he did not want to bring Snowviel to Midnightstar. If Hazeltear claimed that Snowveil went agenst StarClan, then she would want justice for it. Hopefully, however, she would realize that it wasn't worth the effort and consent to just letting the StormClan cat go. Without the freash-kill, obviously.

Some of the fight had gone out of Hazeltear's eyes, but her claws were still unsheathed. "I'm almost completely that crow-food eater took prey from our side of the border," she spat. "After all, she is on our side." She snorted as she went on. "An innocent mistake? You're a much more experienced warrior than me; surely it wasn't just an innocent mistake?" she hissed.

ooc- Actually, Snowveil is pretty young.
The snowy warrior glared daggers at Hazeltear. "Will you drop it already?! I'll swear by StarClan that it was an accident. Now will you let me go?!" Snowveil's desperation was evident in her voice, and her eyes were wild. She fully expected a lightning-bolt to strike her down in retribution for the false oath. "I'll give you the thrush, if that's what you want," she added in a surly tone.

Cloudmist was patrolling by the StormClan border when she heard angry yowls and hisses. Scenting the air, she smelled a cat's fear scent---Snowveil! Her Clan mate was in trouble! Racing towards the snowy white she-cat and the ShoreClan patrol, the experienced warrior was thinking of reasons to get Snowveil out of trouble. Stopping in front of Hazeltear, she fixed her intense green gaze on the younger warrior. "What do you think you're doing?" she demanded furiously, the normally gentle she-cat was lashing her tail. She nodded slightly to Snowveil and twitched her ears for her Clan mate to be quiet.
ooc - Is that okay?

ooc- That's fine.
Nightfrost nodded, expecting this answer but hoping that it wouldn't come. His irritaion flared again when another StormClan cat came and immediatly thought that his Clanmates are doing something bad. "Nothing, yet," the black warrior asserted, giving Hazeltear no time to make a dangerous comment. "I just got here a few minutes ago. but to me it looks like Hazeltear believes that Snowviel stole prey from our side of the border." Obviously, this comment would not go down well, but Nightfrost felt it was better to address it now rather then wait for Snowviel to speal first. "I agree that Snowviel was on ShoreClan terrirory, her scent is all over and stronger then it should be, but I'm not sure about the prey-stealing." There, that might level Cloudmist's temper a bit.

Snowveil glanced nervously at Cloudmist. What if she finds out that I didsteal it? She groaned, knowing that her friend would be angry. "Look, I don't want trouble." The warrior spoke in a rapid meow, eyes flickering back and forth from Hazeltear to Cloudmist. "I'll return to the thrush. Now will you let me go?" Her voice rose on the last sentence, and Her plumy tail twitched anxiously.

Pinestorm hurried along the border, his whiskers twitching anxiously. His sister had disappeared somewhere a while ago, when she had promised him that they would go hunting together. Hazeltear never broke a promise; so where was she? Carefully, he scented the air. She was close. Hurriedly, he followed her scent, and came upon a small gathering of cats. Their voices had floated past him on his way there, and so he had a vague idea of what was happening. "Hazeltear," he hissed. "Drop it; Seamist's waiting."
Hazeltear's tail flicked irritably at her brother's sudden appearance. "This piece of fox dung stole fresh-kill from our territory," she hissed back stubbornly. "She's nervous; can't you see? She's guilty." Guilty. It was a harsh word to use in this situation, but Hazeltear didn't care at all whatsoever. She also didn't care for the other cats' attempts at diplomacy, and seemed bent on following the warrior code, right to the very last word. She glanced sidelong at Cloudmist. She was familiar with her as the cat who had been her uncle's mate, and was her friend as well. "Your Clanmate is lying," she hissed through clenched teeth.
Pinestorm felt like groaning out loud. Hazeltear's temper and mulish disposition had gotten them both in trouble time after time, but nothing this serious had ever occurred. "Drop. It." he repeated, an butted her shoulder firmly. "It's just a piece of fresh-kill, and besides, even if Snowveil did cross the border, it was only a mouselength or two. Right?" Pinestorm was well aware that Hazeltear had chosen to ignore him, but it couldn't hurt to try. "Please," he begged in an undertone.

Cloudmist turned her furious green gaze onto the younger warrior who was her friend. "So did you steal it or not?" she demanded, glaring at Snowveil, her glare was intense enough to burn a hole in the white she-cat's head. She twitched her tail angrily and she twitched her ears in embarrassment. She sure had to make a bit scene like this... the StormClan warrior thought, But then again, it's the ShoreClan warriors' fault too I guess...still she shouldn't have crossed the border to hunt...

Snowveil withered under Cloudmist's blistering gaze. She shuffled her paws, subtly moving back towards the StormClan border. "Well, I.... I..." The lie wouldn't come. Snowveil was a master of untruths, but telling one to her friend was a lot harder than persuading a group of mousebrained ShoreClan cats. She looked back to the thrush, lying so temptingly between her and Wolfriver. It would be so easy to make a break for it: the ShoreClan cats wouldn't dare follow her onto StormClan land. But would they do it to defend their Clan's hunting grounds? And if she ran for it, would any cat believe that she was innocent? Snowveil hesitated, a white paw hovering just off the ground. "Umm..."

Cloudmist twitched her ears impatiently. She didn't want to make a scene in front of the ShoreClan cats, but she had to know whether Snowveil stole the thrush or not. "Well?" she hissed, not loudly, but enough to make Snowveil know she meant business. She nodded to the ShoreClan cats and herded her young friend onto the StormClan side of the border. Looking back, she said to the other Clan's patrol, "I'm sorry about the thrush," she apologized, but her voice was not too friendly, just cool and slightly sorry. "That won't happen again," she glared pointedly at Snowveil.
ooc - I hope the powerplaying wasn't too much! Sorry if it is, just tell me and I'll edit the post

Snowveil let out a small sigh of relief as Cloudmist pushed her back across the border. That was scary! I thought Hazeltear would rip me to shreds. She grinned weakly at the ShoreClan cats and echoed Cloudmist's apology. The white-furred warrior padded a few steps away and looked down at her paws, unable to meet Cloudmist's eyes. I am such a mousebrain!!!!!!

Pinestorm sighed in relief as the confrontation was brought to an end by Cloudmist. Thank StarClan, he thought fervently, and suppressed an urge to claw Hazeltear's ears off. His sister was still glaring at the StormClan cats as they retreated, kneading her claws into the ground. She probably feels cheated of a fight, he groaned inwardly, and prodded her none too gently. "We're going," he stated, almost growling in frustration. "Now." He tried to make a friendly face towards the StormClan cats, but his smile came out more like a grimace. "Bye," he mewed, and quickly shoved Hazeltear back towards their own territory. There'll be StarClan to pay for this, he thought furiously. Or at least, Seamist.

Snowveil turned away from the ShoreClan border. She was thankful that Cloudmist had helped stop a fight, but resented being pushed around in front of warriors from another Clan. And we didn't even get to keep the thrush... A squirrel chattered from a tree just across the border, temptingly close. Snowveil lifted her head and stared at it, belly growling with hunger. What am I doing?! She tore her gaze away, disgusted with herself. Come on, Snowveil! Didn't you learn ANYTHING from that argument?! Ashamed of herself, Snowveil hurried away, eager to put as much space between her and the ShoreClan border as possible.

Once they were well away from the SHoreClan cats, Cloudmist faced Snowveil with blazing green eyes. "What do you think you were doing?" she hissed, trying to keep her neck fur flat. "We already have EmberClan chasing our tails, we don't want ShoreClan as well, do we?" She lashed her tail angrily, "You know we shouldn't hunt that close to the border anyways," then a thought flickered in her mind. It was only a few moons ago that she had chased a squirrel onto EmberClan territory for her kits, but quickly she pushed the thought away and glanced back at her friend.
