Wolfriver stepped cautiously up toward the last of the trees on the edge of the path at one of the many places where it returned to the forest. She glancing back behind her to see if Swallowsong was following, then took two more careful steps around dried leaves, bringing her to a position between two trees at the very edge of the cover they provided. Lowering herself softly into a crouch, she looked back again at her friend. "This is the place," she meowed as softly as she could to Swallowsong, "I saw them right here."

Swallowsong nodded. "Okay....now what are we going to do?" she asked quizzically. Her voice was quiet, just in case the Twolegs were still nearby, but from the scent, it didn't seem like they had been here for a while. Her brown tabby ears flicked. "Should we investigate a little more and then tell Midnightstar so patrols can keep a lookout?" Suddenly, a thought came to her. Her friend was a prankster and she wondered whether this was her way of pranking her for something, but it didn't seem like it...it just seemed like she wanted Swallowsong to go with her to investigate the Twoleg activity.

Wolfriver nodded. "Yup. And after that..." she glanced around as if to make sure no was was listening out of habit, though it was clear that no one was nearby, "...after that, I have another idea. Just to make things a little bit more interesting." Wolfriver grinned. "I didn't want to tell you around the kits, but...wellllllll..." she dragged out the word, wanting to be diplomatic, "Have you ever wanted to touch a Twoleg?"

Swallowsong's eyes widened into amber pools of surprise. "What?!" she exclaimed. "Are you crazy? For all you know, they could kill you by just looking at you!" her tail flicked. "Wolfriver, whatever gave you that idea?" she asked.

Wolfriver grinned. "If I had a mouse for every time I've been asked that question, the clan would never have to hunt." She tried to compose her expression to show Swallowsong that her words were more serious, but the look on Swallowsong's face was making it difficult. "But no, I'm not." Wolfriver shook her head, as if she was disappointed by Swallowsong's reaction. "Honestly, you know me better than that. I'm just more willing to take risks in order to have a good time."
She sniffed in response to Swallowsong's suggestion. "Aw, gimme a break. I've seen Twolegs before; I've been close to them before, and they're not that dangerous, as long as you don't get too close. And they're slow. I was watching them the other day, and I just thought...well...it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to get close enough to touch 'em and then get away real fast." Wolfriver looked at Swallowsong, eyes wide and incredulous. "Haven't you ever wondered what they feel like? I mean, with no fur?"

Swallowsong thought for a moment at Wolfriver's question, then she replied, "Well, of course! But just touch your nose and there, you have it," she shook her head, "You nose has no fur, so you don't have to go up to a Twoleg and risk it!" Her fur bristled. The tabby she-cat was always the less risky of the two of them.

Wolfriver shook her head. "Uh-unh," she meowed, a smile sneaking onto her face as she resisted the urge to touch her nose with a paw at the comment. "It's gotta be different. It looks all different, and it smells all different, even past the Twoleg scent, so why would it feel the same?" A faint noise sounded in the forest some distance away, and one of Wolfriver's ears swiveled toward it.
"Shh," she whispered. "Did you hear that? It sounded like a Twoleg!" She bounced to her feet, unable to contain her excitement. "I bet it's coming on the trail! Let's see," she meowed excitedly, settling to the ground again and shifting to work her way a little further into the leaf cover. "All we have to do is watch, and if there's a good chance that it's safe, then maybe we'll try to touch it. But watch no matter what, right?" she looked at Swallowsong, hoping for a favorable answer. "Watching can't hurt, and it'll give us information to tell Midnightstar.

Swallowsong sighed. She had no choice but to follow Wolfriver. "Fine," she finally muttered. "YOU can go and touch the Twoleg, but don't blame me if you lost a paw or something. I warned you," she eyed her friend. "There it is!" she mewed quietly after a couple of minutes. She pointed with her black tipped tail.
ooc - Let's say his name is Bob...xD
Bob was loading some wooden planks off a wagon for a new doghouse for his dog, (uhhh...) Daisy. The little white dog bounced around at his feet and yipped constantly. "Hush up!" he spoke sternly to the small terrier.
