Precise footsteps led the cream-colored warrior to the agreed meeting spot for his new apprentice and himself. He had chosen this spot as he knew that the uneven terrain would be tricky for them, and as few cats hunted here, the prey would be plentiful but tricky to find His sensitive nose told him that his apprentioce should be along quickly and that no real threats were around him. He scented a small vole some meters to the east, and determined that this would help in Rubypaw's training. He waited patiently, his eyes milky and unseeing. As he had no ability to see, he would mostly focus on teaching the former kittypet how to focus on things with her hearing and scent and less on her sight. It should prove to be interesting, and Silversun was looking forward to it.

Rubypaw snuck around her mentor slowly and quietly wonting to pounce on him. She layed her ears back and snuck foward slowly. ! step....2 step....3 step...pounce!! Rubypaw pounced but fell short cuz her back foot got stuck on a root of a tree. Aperently Silversun heard her crash and the gig was up. Maybe next time she would get him. She untangled her foot and trotted over to him. She sat down at his feet and, looking up said, So what are we going to learn today, boss!?

Silversun heard her quiet approach, but played dumb pretending not to notice. At the loud crash of Rubypaw hitting the ground, he turned and faced from where her scent was coming from. "Next time, watch your surroundings before you make a move, Rubypaw." he told her gently before moving on. "Today we are going to work on finding something using your sight and hearing alone. As you well know, I am blind and have to adjust to it. But I promise its not as easy as I make it sound. Now you will do the same.
In that direction," he gestured towards the east, knowing that the vole had not noticed them and was still there, "there is a small vole. I want you to track and capture him. But with your eyes closed. I shall follow behind to make sure that nothing goes wrong and to make sure that your eyes remain closed." He smiled mischieviously, stepping aside gracefully to allow Rubypaw access to the small vole. "Have fun and good luck." Silversun wished her.

Chuckling, Silversun cuffed her gently upside the head. "Not that easy, now is it?" He teased before growing serious. "Make sure to test your surroundings with your paws before you take a step. Eventually you will be able to walk with your eyes closed and not worry but now you must be careful." The warrior chided before slinking back to give her space. "Now, try again." he told her, his footsteps silent as he retreated into the background, watching his young apprentice.
He had been there when she had been first brought to the clansite, and hadn't been that impressed. She had managed to answer his mother's questions without stammering, though she had been small, and underfed. Silversun hadn't seen how the small kit could survive in Shoreclan, but now he ate those words. It was her backbone of steel that helped. She was still smaller than the other warrior, but that was because she was a former kittypet, not clan. So it made sense. he felt he inkling of pride begin to develop at the sight of her trying.

Rubypaw nodded and closed her eyes. She let out a big breath and took a small step forward. She sniffed the air and cought sent of her prey. She tested the ground before her next step and found a hole. She avoided it by stepping to the side. She was making progress. She took 3 more steps and then the sent of the vole was overwelming so she pounced and cought it. She turned around and ran to her mentor.

Silversun nodded in approval at a job well-done. "Nice job, Rubypaw. Eventually you will see that it becomes easier and easier in order to catch prey without your sight." Let's drop the vole off in the freshkill pile and then we will begin to work on fighting without sight." He mewed out quietly, joining her side quickly though not picking up the vole. Now was as good a time as any for her to learn to pull her own weight. It was a small vole, so it wouldn't be that difficult.
"During your training with me, I shall teach you all that I can. I shall teach you how to rely on all of your senses, not just sight, how to predict one's movements, and how to remain calm in a situation. And while I am teaching you, you will begin to understand your inner "compass" so to speak that can help find your way back to camp or where you may need to go." he told her as they began to work back into the direction of Shoreclan. He picked the shortest route to the densite, setting a brisk pace in order to give their quickly and not waste precious day light.
After they dropped off the small vole, they went to another, slightly different spot in the Meadows. " Now this exercise is more difficult. I want you to attack me with the intent to kill. Like before, your eyes will be closed. Focus on the sounds of my feet, and my scent in the wind, not to mention hearing. Rely on all of your other senses." He mewed out instructions, readying himself. The kit could only do minimal damage to him, but she had a natural talent for unpredictability, which helped in the sense of battle. "Make sure to keep your eyes closed." Silversun added on wryly.

Rubypaw nodded and closed her eyes. She lifted her head into the air and took a big wiff. She smelled Silversun and unsheathed her small claws. She growled but knew that was a mistake. Silversun now new were she was so she kept quiet there on. She sniffed again and this time the sent was stronger. She pirked up her ears and listened for a sound.

Good. Silversun inwardly praised though he kept silent. Light as a feather, he carried his large frame downwind of the cat. He continued to circle her, before slinking behind a bushel of trees and appearing on the other end. He smiled at how the kitten had appeared not to move, though Rubypaw did growl at one point but seemed to realize her error and quickly stopped. Judging by what his keen nose and ears were telling him, she was staying in one spot and more than likely trying to locate his location. Though he was moving around in order to confuse her, so his apprentice would have to try harder than that to catch and attack him.

Rubypaw stood still and waited. She was reling on her sence of smell and hearing. She could smell him in the west then in the north then in the south. she knew what he was trying to do so she started to circle. She pocked at the ground to make sure she didnt run into anything.

Silversun remained ever patient as she seemed to begin looking for him. Lightning fast but still ever quiet, he darted behind her and cuffed her hard enough of the rump to stun her but not seriously injure her. "You must be ready for anything, Rubypaw. Remain on your toes at all times." he told her.
"And I shall prove that now. As you have yet to attack me, I am going to attack you and you must either dodge or attack. Though, because of the fact that it is your first time training, I will allow you to open your eyes if you wish to. As your training furthers, you will have to fight me without sight. Understand? " He asked, emerging from the shadows of the trees and slinking into a perfect offensive stance. Giving her a moment to get ready, he held his position. He obviously had the upperhand, as he was a Warrior, older, and had been blind all his life, which was why Silversun was allowing Rubypaw to see him attack.
(BTW. In another post with Ripplestream, I had it to where Rubypaw managed to nick him on the stomach. Its very shallow, so keep that in mind. But if you would like to (and you don't have to) I give you permission to powerplay her managing to nick him on the stomach.)

Occ-Ok
Rubypaw spun around, hissed and batted a claw out. She understood so she nodded. She got down in a crouching position and waited for his attack. She thought be on my toes...be on my toes... She kept looking every were trying to pinpoint his area but it was no use so she used her sence on smell. AHHA!! she found him! She followed his sent to were she thought he might attack. But before he had a chance to spring she pounced at him and managed to nick him in his stomach.
