Back at her home, Cedar had been waiting for Darkheart to come visit her. To pass the time, she had already gone hunting, catching a vole for her and a mouse for Darkheart. She came back to the little overhang where she slept every night and began to wait. She was practicly choking on anticipation, even though she was constantly telling herself that she was being silly. There was no reason for Darkheart not to show up... exept for Runningfire. Of course trying to sooth herself didn't work so she was taking unnessasary care to groom herself, trying to occupy her time in a way that didn't involve her thinking of why Darkheart wouldn't come.

Darkheart was trotting quickly over to Cedar's home with a rabbit in his jaws for her. The tabby tom had promised his friend that he would go and visit her so he made up and excuse to go and be with her instead of hunting with his mate, Runningfire. Swiftly looking around, just to be sure Runningfire hadn't followed him, he called out softly, "Cedar! It's me, Darkheart!"

Cedar looked up from washing her rythmacly washing her paw. All of the thoughts of what Runningfire was doing to Darkheart for even suggesting to visit her washed from her head as she saw him trot up to her with a rabit in his jaws. It was a little funny, she thought, amused, she had gotten a peice of fresh-kill for her and she had gotton one for him. She stood up, streatching, and went to go greet Darkheart. "How long untill we can expect Runningfire?" she asked, trying her best to sound curious. She hoped that Darkheart would not notice the slight bitterness that seeped through her mask.

Darkheart dropped his rabbit and purred, giving her ear a soft lick. "Don't worry," he meowed, "I told Runningfire I'd be hunting," the dark pelted rogue reassured Cedar. He glanced at the rabbit and prodded it towards her, "This is for you," he told his best friend. He looked around the place, then at the she-cat. "So...how have you been?" he asked, concerned about her since the Clan furballs were moving into Korkea Maa.

Cedar was purring contendtedly, glad that her friend was here. She stopped when Darkheart asked her how she was, able to tell instantly what he ment. "I'm okay, I guess." she answered, much less happy then she was a minute ago. "The way I see it, I am either run out of my home or forced to give up my prey." Cedar contunued, aiming for an almost-emotionless voice that sounded like she was blowing the importance of the invading Clan cats. She failed miserably. Her voice was bitter, dissapointed, and devastated all at once.

Darkheart pressed his warm flank against her side and curled around her comfortingly. "I already told you, you can live in one of the caves with me, Shadowstripe, and Runningfire. Don't worry, I won't let Runningfire find out. I'll try the hardest I can," he promised quietly. Nudged the rabbit towards her again, "Go on. Eat," he insisted.

"We're talking about half a moon here," Cedar replied between bites of her rabbit. "You sure that Runningfire won't be able to even have a clue?" she asked doubtfully, still not beliving. Sure the Red Queen caves were big, but not that big. Runningfire was bound to run across her scent sometime. When she was about halfway done with the rabbit, she remeberd the mouse that she had caught for Darkheart. "That's for you, by the way," she said suddenly, nodding towards the limp mouse in the shadow of the rock.

Darkheart looked Cedar in the eye for a moment. "Listen," he meowed in a stern voice, "I'll find a cave for you to live in. I'll get you some moss and stuff for a nest. I'll try and find a lot of herbs to disguise your scent so Runningfire won't find out you're living there." He continued in a softer tone, "We can find the herbs and place them all over the place you're going to be sleeping in and then Runningfire can't scent anything except for herbs. If she asks, I'll say that I'm stocking up just in case the Clan cats come to attack us and I know some of the common herbs because I used to live in a CLan."
He glanced over at the mouse that Cedar had pointed out to him and nodded gratefully. He was really hungry and hurried over to get the mouse. The dark tabby rogue munched hungrily and the prey was gone within a few minutes. "Thanks," he meowed.

ooc- sorry I took so long to reply. Yesterday I spent about 2 hours working on filming a commercial for this computer class and after that I had like 50 math problems to do, so I had about half of an hour of free time... when my brother was on the computer.
Cedar nodded absently at Darkheart's thanks. She was reviewing Darkheart's plan in her head. She had to admit, it was pretty good. There was just one thing. "What if she decides to investigate the herbs? She'll only find a small pile, and me." She really didn't want to protest at this point. It was a good plan and she would rather share a cave with Rinningfire then face the Clan cats.

Darkheart sighed in exasperation. "I'll make sure she doesn't - I don't know how i'll do it, but I will make sure she doesn't know about you. I'll try the best I can!" He tried to reassure his best friend. "Don't argue anymore!" he nudged her flank affectionately and twitched his ears in amusement. Couldn't that mousebrain see sense?

Cedar smiled as she finished up her rabbit. "Ok," she replied after a moment. As much as she would prefer one angry cat to dozens of angry cats, she was still reluctant to put herself anywhere near Runningfire. Even if Darkheart was trying the hardest he could to prevnt her from being found out. "So, when are we going to find these herbs?" she asked a little more cheerfully.

"We can go and find some now," Darkheart meowed. "Let's find some herbs that really have a strong smell?" he suggested. He gave Cedar a lick on the head. "Come on," his voice was calm and gentle. "You will be fine with me...and Runningfire," he added his mate's name hesitantly. "Let's go!" he beckoned to his best friend with his tail.
ooc - Start a thread collecting herbs?

ooc- We don't have to, we can just continue to post on this thread. Unless you want to start a new one...
Cedar nodded, bounding up to join Darkheart. In reply to her friend's previous statement, Cedar snorted, "As if, Runningfire would never want to take care of me." Runningfire, taking care of her? Hilarious. But Darkheart wasn't joking, she reminded herself. Yeah right, she argued, as if Runningfire would ever feel the need to de anything even remotely nice to me. But did Darkheart really think that Runningfire would care for her? Cedar put it out of her mind, deciding to concentrate of finding the smelliest herb she could.

ooc - Okay then, let's keep going on here ;D
Darkheart kept silent for quite a while before biting off a couple stems of pungent marigold. The dark tabby rogue spat out his mouthful beside a rock so he could collect it later. Soon, in a few more minutes, the tom had a decent pile of marigold, watermint, and basil. "Cedar!" he meowed loudly. "Over here!"

Cedar looked up from sniffing a patch of wild onion. The herb had one of the strongest scents that she could find, but she did not want to get that flavor in her mouth. She carefully curled her paw around one of the shoots, pinching it between two of her claws. began to limp over to where Darkheart was standing, 30 or so fox-lenghts away. She layed down the onion for his insection, glancing curiously at the pile of herbs that he had collected. "What did you find?" Cedar asked, unable to identify the strange new herbs.
