Songheart tried to keep the venom out of her eyes as she watched Foxshadow. He almost emits hatred, the ginger she-cat thought, emerald eyes fixed on the rogue. Trying carefully but failing a little to conceal the hostility in her voice, she replied, "We are simply here on a scouting party. A storm is on the way and the lower land would not be safe for Clan cats to inhabit when the storm does arrive. It would be much safer to be on higher ground." As Eagle listened to her speak confidently, he knew she would only actually tell these things to the rogues, loners, and kittypet because even if a fight broke out, the Clan cats would win by sheer numbers.
Eagle was aware of where all the rogues were. Cedar and Darkheart were in the direction he had just come, Runningfire was nearby, Shadowfang was still concealed in the bushes as well, and Foxshadow was next to him. He wanted to tell Foxshadow that he wouldn't defend his foolish words, but with all of the Clan cat gazes on him, the docile tom said nothing but stood calmly.

Darkheart growled angrily. "So you come and invade our territory! Just like that, huh?" his eyes narrowed to mere amber slits. "Why can't you find 'higher ground' somewhere else?" he challenged, his neck fur bristling furiously.

Eagle bristled slightly, golden eyes narrowed at Songheart in agreement with Darkheart. "I agree. Why don't you all climb trees or something?" Songheart fought to control her temper, rising like a flame. "Because," She said, straining to sound calm towards Eagle -- he was twice her size -- "Do you really think kits and elders can make it up trees that easily, if at all? And what if someone fell?" She turned to Darkheart. "This mission was only a scouting mission." She glanced at Ripplestream. "Do you think we should go back and report to the Clan leaders, and avoid a fight?" She murmured, just loud enough for the she-cat to hear.

Darkheart snarled at Songheart with obvious distaste. "You Clan cats like helping each other, don't you?" he spat. "Well, you could help your weak kits and elders, can't you?" he mocked.
Ripplestream shook her head slightly. "No," she murmured, "Going back would only waste time and I'm pretty sure that the rogues won't pick a fight with us, we outnumber them by many," the medicine cat hoped that she was right.

Heatherpaw stepped forwards a little bit, glancing at the angry cats Songheart and Eagle who stood glaring at each other. She flicked her silver tail, listening to Ripplestream, and turned to Darkheart. "My name is Heatherpaw," She said quietly. "And I am the medicine cat apprentice of EmberClan. We come in good faith that we will not be intruding upon the territory of cats already here, just seeing and confirming that it is indeed occupied. And by the looks of it, there are extra caves," She said gently, addressing all the loners. "We just need help is all. It's not that we can't fight, but it doesn't need to come to that, and besides, how do you fight a storm? It's just, we need a favor. If the big storm does come, should Clan bonds matter? As a medicine cat apprentice, I live above the warrior code. It's not always about what Clan you're in, or if you're a rogue, loner, or kittypet. It's about cats helping cats, and I think now is when we need to stand and help each other, cat to cat." She smiled.
Songheart had nodded at Ripplestream, agreeing that going back would be a waste of time, and listened to Heatherpaw speak. Glancing at Eale, she saw a thoughtful look in the tabby tom's golden eyes. The big kittypet glanced at Foxheart.
"Is fighting this necessary?" He meowed huskily. "She has a valid point..." He wasn't really sure whose side to take, but he had gained a little respect for the quiet apprentice who watched them with unblinking silver eyes.
Songheart stood her ground, not moving, placing confidence in Heatherpaw. She makes a great negotiator... She thought with an inward chuckle. She's a medicine cat apprentice after all.

Cedar stepped forward, almos growling. It souned like she was being made out as the bad guuy now, but she didn't care. "Why should we help you?" she spat, an incredulous edge to her voice. "You have never helped us before, you drive us from your territory, even if we wern't hunting, and now you going to come as steal land and prey from us. All you ask for, you say, is help, but when have we ever recieved help from you? What reason could we possivly we have for helping you? As she finished her speach, she stood glaring at all of the cats that were staring at her.
Swifttail was taken aback by the young apprentices speach. He had never seen such a little cat talk like that. Before he could do anything else, one of the rogues spook. Once again, he was stuned. He had never really thought about it, but that rogue did have a point. Right now, he was exedingly glad that he was not Songheart. He could not think of what he would do in this situation.
Skysong pressed herself a little closer to Blitzfire, glancing around at all of the opposing cats. If it came to a fight, there was no way that they could win, but she had never seen such huge cats. SHe knew that she was being a little childish, but she was a little scared.

Songheart listened to Cedar, glancing at Heatherpaw, who seemed equally able to maintain peace as she herself, so she let the apprentice medicine cat speak.
"Have you known a medicine cat to drive you from Clan territory? We have never done such a thing. Nor would we mean to." Her silver eyes were soft as they rested on Cedar. "It's not like the Clans enjoy driving you out. But on your own, you have plenty of land on which to find food, whereas the Clans only have the territory that they have, and they can't move. But is the past important now? We aren't taking anything -- StarClan forbid -- but do you really need a reason to help us... help me? Think about kits who've had no chance to live life... They are innocents that have no choice in the matter." She continued to watch Cedar with soft eyes.

Lightstream growled dangerously. She would have liked it if they start fighting now so they can chase the rogues away. But she controled herself and stood with her claws unsheathed, which she had dug into the dirt.

"Well now we know why they're here," Darkheart whispered into Cedar's ear. He raised his voice again in a warning growl, "If you stay here and take our prey and land - we can't help it - so I suppose you can." His ears twitched, "As long as you stay out of our way."
Ripplestream stepped closer to Stonestream's apprentice. "Well done," she murmured quietly, her amber-green eyes tinged with pride, sweeping over the rogues. "Stonestream would be proud of you," she nodded thoughtfully for a moment. It would soon be time for Heatherpaw to receive her full medicine cat name soon.
Pebblestone unsheeathed his claws angrily. The rogues didn't have the sense of a newborn kit! He stepped boldly forward, with a glance at his sister. He snarled menacingly into Darkheart's face. "If we don't move - we'll die. Furthermore, you rouges have FAR more prey than you need.”

Heatherpaw smiled gratefully at Darkheart. "Thank you, on behalf of all four Clans." Nodding her head, she took a step back. "Thanks," She mewed to Ripplestream, pride in her cloud-colored eyes.
Songheart took a step forwards. "Pebblestone, no need to start fighting again. Our quarrel is over. We will remain peaceful with the loners, at least for now. This is their home, and they do have a point; if we come in and take all the prey, are we better than thieves? No, we should return to our camps for now and report to the leaders." Songheart glanced proudly at Heatherpaw, who felt pride bubble in her heart.
Eagle nodded in relief. No fighting and no bloodshed was necessary here. He walked over to where Darkheart stood, and sat, curling big tail around himself. "Well handled," He mewed in his deep rumble.

Pebblestone nodded to Songheart respectfully. He was a deputy as well, but he respected Songheart and did not speak. Still looking at Darkheart he stepped back and took a place beside Ripplestream.
Ripplestream touched her tail tip to Heatherpaw's should and her amber-green eyes searched the apprentice's. This was not the over-enthusiastic apprentice she had once been - this was an almost grown, sophisticated cat.
Darkheart gave a small nod when Eagle spoke to him and realized that this kittypet was no ordinary kittypet.

Runningfire narrowed her eyes. She was looking forward to a fight as well as Lightstream. It's better than to watch Darkheart and Cedar standing together, she thought angrily. She even planned to dash out of the bushes, but she knew that would be foolish, so she stayed hidden.
Lightstream was beginning to lose her patience. She edged near Songheart, and hissed into her ear, "are we going to stand around talking in peace to these rogues all day? We can fight; they are outnumbered. Or we can get on with our scouting!"

Songheart glanced her thanks to Pebblestone for obliging. Turning to Lightstream, she shook her head a little. "We should try to avoid fighting, and thus unnecessary injuries. If it's absolutely necessary, yes, we do outnumber them, but I don't want to fight him, do you?" She twitched an ear at Eagle. "As far as it looks," She said a little bit louder, addressing the Clan cats, "Our scouting is finished. They've given us permission to stay in the caves, and as far as it looks there is plenty of room, so we should report to our Clans and prepare."
Heatherpaw sat down on the stone, curling her gray-striped tail around herself, quiet nature making her feel a little awkward, having stepped forwards and spoken so outwardly to the loners.
Eagle returned Darkheart's nod. He thought for a moment, then said to the loner, "I've decided something. I think that during the storm, if what the Clan cats say is true anyways, I'll stay here. Not that I don't believe that they wouldn't attack you after this agreement, but I think it helps to have a little extra muscle." He grinned.

Cedar growled softly. She would've liked to argue with the Clan cats-she had a bunch more things that she would like to say-but Darheat beat he to it, ending the arguement before it went anywhere. She nodded sullunly, still not likeing the fact that the Can cats had won. She tuned and slunked into the bushes, unable to say anything that wasn't an insult at the moment.

Darkheart nodded quickly at Eagle and smiled. "Thanks," he meowed sincerely. He slipped into the bushes after Cedar quickly. "Cedar!" he hissed quietly. "Come back!" the dark brown tabby caught up with Cedar and pressed his warm pelt against hers. "I know you don't like it, but you can live in one of the caves, without Runningfire knowing!"
