Shadowfang nodded. "Yes, we should warn the others but none of the clan cats would listen to us." He looked at Heatherpaw. "You'll have o tell them." He added to her.

"But what about ShoreClan?" Wildshadow meowed worriedly, looking around as if to see a ShoreClan warrior walking in.

Darkheart crouched beside Wildshadow, warming his friend by licking his fur the wrong way.
Ripplestream was trotting along the river looking for watermint and she glimsped Heatherpaw, a medicine cat apprentice. The SHoreClan medicine cat bounded over.

"ShoreClan?" Wildshadow sat up suddenly, scenting the air, "I think I smelled a ShoreClan cat."

Heatherpaw nodded seriously. She knew she could be punished severely for this, but it was a feasible warning and besides, not only could she never leave a cat to drown, she was a medicine cat apprentice and a little above the normal Clan rivalries. She glanced in the direction Ripplestream came from, having scented her. "Ripplestream!" She said with relief. "This tom was swimming and got caught in a terrible twoleg trap." She motioned towards the net, sprawled limply on the ground.

Dawnpaw had managed to sneak away from camp (again) earlier that night, and when she scented Ripplestream outside of the camp, she tracked her to the river. She was careful not to let any other cats notice her, because she knew if her mentor, Pebblestone, finds out she had sneak off again, he would be furious with her and maybe she could be punished. She had accidently stepped on a thorn, so now she was limping with one of her back-paw in the air. She knew she couldn't go any further with an injured paw, so taking a deep breath, she stepped out of the undergrowth, facing the other cats and Ripplestream. If Pebblestone finds out, she encouraged herself, I'll just have to take my punishment. "I'm sorry, Ripplestream," she meowed, "I sneaked out of camp tonight because... er... because I didn't want to be stuck in the apprentices' den for the night. I followed you, and a thorn got into my paw... I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything bad." She stopped, looked up from her paws, and searched for any anger showing on Ripplestream's face.

Ripplestream nodded at what Heatherpaw said, "That was kind of you," she meowed gently. "Can you go and find some cobwebs?" she asked, glancing at the scratches on the black loner's side. Then she faced Dawnpaw, "You shouldn't have followed me," her amber-green eyes swept across Dawnpaw, and the medicine cat spoke sternly. "But since you are here with a thorn, I'll get it out," she meowed.

"Thanks you, Ripplestream.", Dawnpaw meowed gratefully, then added, "will you tell Pebblestone? He found out I had slipped away last night, and if he finds out again..."

"Give me your paw," Ripplestream meowed softly. "The thorn - remember?"

Shadowfnag watched the cat silently, the clan cats were lucky to have so many friends and family members to care for them. He couldn't complain when he had friends like Wildshadow and Darkheart.

Heatherpaw watched Dawnpaw emerge from the brush and nodded, briskly trotting away from the small group and searching for cobwebs. It took her a few moments, but she paused when she saw a bizarre white spider weaving a silky white web. She watched it with her silver eyes, and it skittered up and off the web as she hooked a claw on it, teasing it onto her paw. Trotting three-legged back to Ripplestream, she glanced sympatheritcally at Dawnpaw, knowing the apprentice would be in trouble if Pebblestone found out. She wondered briefly if Stonestream, her own mentor, would be angry at her. But Heatherpaw was a highly independent cat, and she knew Stonestream wouldn't mind. Returning to Shadowfang, she made short work of th scratches marring his side with the soft cobweb, returning to Ripplestream's side when the scratches were all patched up. A tad bit unfortunate that we have to marigold or goldenrod, she thought to herself.

Stonestream was also trying to collect some watermint by the river and he scented Heatherpaw, his own apprentice, Ripplestream and a bunch of other cats. "Heatherpaw!" he meowed, once he reached the cats. He nodded to Ripplestream and turned back to Heatherpaw, "What are you doing here?"

Heatherpaw almost winced but didn't show any fear when Stonestream arrived. She met his gaze unflinchingly with her silver eyes, almost aglow in the sunlight. "I was gathering herbs by the waterside, watermint and horsetail, when I heard this tom," She flicked her tail towards the tom next to the net, "in the water. He was caught in that Twoleg thing," She then gestured with her tail at the limp, useless object, "so I helped to get him out of it. Shadowfang helped and then Ripplestream and Dawnpaw arrived." She concludd her recount with a nod and sat.

Dawnpaw showed Ripplestream her paw, thoughts of how she could be punished raced in her mind. No training for a moon, not allowed to go out of camp...

Ripplestream nodded to Stonestream briefly and turned back to Dawnpaw, "This will hurt a bit," she warned. The ShoreClan she-cat gripped the thorn between her teeth and tugged sharply. Then she gave Dawnpaw's pawpad a few swift licks and and sat back. "Are you okay now?"
Stonestream nodded, "Good thinking, Heatherpaw," he reached out and gave her a quick lick on the shoulder.
