Shadowfire padded back and forth in impatience, his black tail lashing to and fro. Anxiety was etched into every muscle of his night-colored body, and the fact that she was crossing into his territory and not the other way around was making it even worse. Where could she be? he thought. The last time he had seen her, he had told her to meet him on his own territory, so that it would cause less suspicion. Obviously, this mysterious she-cat was Ripplestream, the ShoreClan medicine cat and his mate. Well, he had never asked her to become his mate, but somehow, they just clicked. Suddenly, the ferns just ahead shivered, revealing his long-lost lover. "Ripplestream," he breathed.

Ripplestream bounded towards Shadowfire and nuzzled his cheek, purring quietly. The ShoreClan medicine cat's tail was quivering in happiness and fear. Her thoughts were filled with love for the black tom in front of her, fear that some cat would find out, and happiness that they could see each other this often. Breaking away from her love, she smiled and turned away to grab the fish she had caught on the way here. She patted it towards him.

"Ripplestream," he repeated, amber eyes glowing. "I missed you so much." Somehow, when he was around her, all of his worries just melted away, to be replaced with his love for her. He had been worried that she had forgotten him as the seasons went by, or had even found another - but his fears had proven groundless. She was faithful to him, as he was to her, and always would be. Finally, he noticed the fish she had caught for him, and realized that he was starving. His hunting skills had improved, along with his injuries, but he still walked with a slight limp, and winced as he bent down to retrieve the fish. He ravenouly tore a mouthful from the freshkill, before he remembered his manners. "Do you want to share?" he mewed sheepishly, and nudged the half-decimated fish in her direction.

Ripplestream's whiskers twitched with amusement. "No," she nudged it back, "You go ahead, I already ate before I came," she sat by, hoping no patrols, ShoreClan or StormClan, found them. Then she noticed his leg. "What happened to your leg?" her amber-green gaze clouded with concern as she nosed the leg and paw gently, giving it a few soft licks.
Cloudmist was patrolling the borders by herself and hoping to find some cat that would be willing to check the EmberClan border with her---just in case some stupid EmberClanners decided that StormClan cats were too weak to protect their borders. She trotted towards the Dry Streambed, although that was no where near the EmberClan border, but she thought she scented one of her Clan mates there. Glancing around, the tortoiseshell couldn't see anything but a black smudge in the distance and the scent of fresh-kill. Ah well, some cat's probably hunting, don't want to disturb them, the StormClan she-cat walked away..

Shadowfire didn't flinch away at Ripplestream's gentle touch. It pained him to lie to her, but he knew he must. "Long story," he murmured at last, and seized the opportunity to eat the last of the fish. Suddenly, he froze. He could detect a faint StormClan scent, a scent almost as familiar as his own. Cloudmist, he thought, and almost breathed a sigh of relief as her scent weakened, indicating that she was going the other way.

Ripplestream narrowed her eyes, not believing Shadowfire. "Fine," she meowed, "I won't ask anymore about your leg," her gaze was a little pained. "But where did you go for almost 4 moons?" she had come to the border almost everyday to see whether her mate was back yet. Only about a quarter moon ago had he returned.

Shadowfire shrugged in an unconcerned manner. "StarClan called," he mewed simply. Anxious to change the awkward and painful topic, he pressed his muzzle to hers gently, in an attempt to silence her. "Did you get into any trouble while I was gone?" he teased. "Maybe have an affair with another tom?" Despite his light tone, he kept his ears carefully pricked. If he said otherwise, it would be too much for him to bear. He'd have to chase her off of his Clan's territory... He slipped behind her, covering her eyes with his jet-black tail. "Peekaboo," he whispered softly.
OOC: Is it okay if Seamist finds out or something? xD

Ripplestream's eyes flared as the black tom mentioned another tom. "No!" she gasped in shock. "I wouldn't do that!" She flattened her ears then relaxed again. As Shadowfire's tail covered her eyes, whispering, 'Peekaboo,' she twirled around batted softly at his ears and smiled mysteriously, then disappeared between the trees.
ooc - Sure, that'd be fine

OOC: Awesome. xD Shadowfire glanced around through narrowed eyes, wondering where his mate had gone. Twitching his ears in delight, he scented the air and tracked Ripplestream's scent. Winding around a clump of trees sinuously, he found her and butted her affectionately. "I wish you were in StormClan," he murmured softly. "I hate being so far from you." Sighing, he lay down. It was dark, and Ripplestream would be going soon. He just hoped that her Clan wouldn't pester her with questions about where she had gone.

Ripplestream purred happily, rubbing her cheek against Shadowfire's jaw line. "I know, but we can't change our Clans, can we?" she gazed wistfully at the black tom in front of her. She suddenly got an idea. "I know I should get going now...but I think I could stay out here with you," she hated lying to her CLan mates, but she would tell them she had gone to the Moonstone.

Shadowfire shook his head sadly. "It'll worry your Clanmates, even if you do think of a plausible excuse," he murmured sadly, and nuzzled her one last time. With a flick of his tail, he spun around and padded silently through the trees, darkness swallowing his black pelt in a heartbeat. "I love you," he whispered softly, although he knew he was already out of earshot. Shadowfire stopped. He could sense that something wasn't right. He had already come a fair distance into the heart of his won territory, but the faintest wisp of a familiar scent floated past his nose Seamist!
Seamist padded warily along the StormClan border. She was following Ripplestream's scent, and so far, it had been fairly easy. She could tell that the she-cat had come along, and was in a calm state of mind, so why would she visit StormClan now? She knew that she sometimes visited the StormClan medicine cat, Crystalpool, when she needed herbs, but she would have told some cat by now. Still thinking hard, she was jolted back to her senses as she caught another scent in the air. "Shadowfire," she breathed, and doubled her pace. By now, their scents were mingled together as though they had been in contact with each other, but why? As Seamist approached Ripplestream's familiar scent, a feeling of foreboding materialized in the back of her mind. What if... She chose not to finish the thought; instead, she would ask the she-cat in front of her. "Ripplestream," she mewed, suspicion flooding her green gaze.

Ripplestream stared after her mate until he disappeared into the darkness. She whirled around as a cat said her name. Seamist! The medicine cat hadn't noticed the former deputy's paw steps, she had been too focused on Shadowfire. "Oh, hi, Seamist!" quickly covering up her shock. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her heart was thumping wildly at the thought of some cat finding out about her and Shadowfire, especially Seamist, since she was Shadowfire's brother.

OOC: LOL. She's a girl, remember? His sister?
Seamist lowered her voice slightly. "I know where you've been. Tell me, why were you meeting him?" She had a niggling suspicion of where she had been and for what reason, but she chose not to disclose just yet. However, her eyes betrayed her doubts, and she was absolutely sure that Rippletream could see them. She lowered her voice yet again, this time to a whisper. "I won't tell anyone if you never see him again," she hissed softly. "You know this is wrong, and so does he. Do me a favour and stay away from my brother, for your sake and his."

Ripplestream searched Seamist's eyes for a moment and she knew that the she-cat knew that something was up between her and Shadowfire. Something bad. "I've been teaching him about different herbs," she replied evenly, "He's always wanted to be a medicine cat, but never got around to it so I'm teaching him now," the medicine cat glanced at a bunch of watermint nearby and jerked her head towards it.

Seamist almost rolled her eyes, but she was now much too disciplined to do such a thing. Instead, she allowed a hint of irritation and worry to creep into her voice. "Ripplestream," she mewed coolly. "You know that's not the whole story." Her fur began to bristle, but she forced it to stay flat "If that's the story you want to feed me, then that's fine," she hissed. "But tell me the truth or I report my suspicions to Midnightstar. Your choice." She knew that her interference would hurt Ripplestream badly, and Shadowfire as well. She was more concerned for her brother's sake, as he had broken up with another mate before. If he was forced to leave Ripplestream, or Ripplestream left him, she had no idea how he'd be able to cope. And on top of that, she wasn't in his Clan; they had been separated from each other after their mother died, and they had been miraculously reunited when each had joined their respective Clans. He probably had no one to lean on, though she hoped otherwise. "Please," she mewed again. "If not for your sake, then his. Do you have any idea how much this will end up hurting you both?"
