Seamist lashed her tail impatiently as she padded alongside her Clanmates, following her mate's trail. Pebblestone had left on the dawn patrol ages ago, but hadn't come back. She had decided to take the initiative and try and find him herself, hopefully before he got into major trouble. "This way," she hissed softly. With her were her two kits and Ripplestream; they had adamantly refused her protests, saying that it was their business, too. And it was - Pebblestone was her two kits' father, and Ripplestream had to be there in case he was hurt. Also, Seamist could tell that she was worried about him.
Pinestorm dashed beside his sister, not caring about all the prey he was currently scaring away with his thundering pawsteps. He just HAD to find his father. Although Pebblestone had actually been his adopted father, and neither Seamist nor Hazeltear were related to him by blood, they were still his mother and sister, in the same way that Pebblestone was still his father. "StarClan, let him be safe," he murmured softly, and tried not to be swept away in the force of his despair.
Of all the cats in the patrol, Hazeltear was undoubtedly the calmest - or at least, on the outside. She padded alongside Ripplestream with a carefully tense air about her, but inside, she was a swirling mass of emotions. Pebblestone was a respected, strong and brave warrior - he had never scared them all as badly as this. Especially not Hazeltear, who was normally the cynic. "Where is he?" she mewed softly.

Ripplestream's whiskers trembled. Her brother never went anywhere for this long without telling any cat. She tried not to show that she was worried, but everyone else was worried too, so there was no reason to try and hide her feelings, but it was for the best. She turned her head as Hazeltear asked a question. "I don't know," she replied quietly, touching her tail tip to Hazeltear's shoulder gently.

For once in her life, Hazeltear didn't flinch away. Instead, she nodded quietly, and actually pressed her muzzle to the medicine cat's shoulder. "I'm so worried," she whispered, just barely loud enough for Ripplestream to hear. "What if he doesn't come back? I wouldn't be able to stand it if he left and never came back...I never even got to say goodbye..." Hazeltear cut herself off then and there. She wasn't one to babble, and she had managed to retain a wisp of her former control.
Seamist stared directly ahead with hollow sea-green eyes. If she and her prty didn't find Pebblestone soon, they were going to have to call it a day; the short, winter day was almost at its end. A badger stumbled out of the bushes, shaking its head from side to side. It stopped for a moment, and proceeded to scent the air. Its long, curved claws glinted malevolently as it began to tread towards her. She glanced down at her paws, and watched as she unsheathed them. A pity she was going to die so soon. However, she was going to die fighting; the only honourable way for a warrior such as her to die. Her gray tail flashed as she bent down. Hang on. Grey? The only cat she knew with a grey pelt was Pebblestone... Peblestone! No wonder she hadn't been able to move her body; she had just assumed that it was because she was dreaming. "He's in danger," she gasped, and doubled her pace.
OOC: Hope you don't mind. >.<

ooc - I don't mind ^^
Ripplestream glanced sharply at Hazeltear, "Don't say that!" she gasped. "He's going to come back, you have to believe it." She looked away; she knew that Hazeltear could very well be right. She whipped her head to stare at Pebblestone's mate. "What?" she whispered bounding along side Seamist.

Seamist shook her head to clear it. Several seasons ago, she had been receiving waking dreams from StarClan, which had ultimately prompted her to leave. Although she had come back, they still came from time to time. "I've had...a vision," she replied, not bothering to waste her breath on a more succinct answer. "He's fighting off a badger right now. If we don't get there in time, he hasn't got a hope." She hadn't meant to sound so brusque, but the truth was the truth. She just hoped that StarCLan would keep Pebblestone alive until they arrived.

Ripplestream hurried faster and faster, swinging her head from side to side, hoping to see the gray tom bounding towards them. But he did not appear. She suddenly scented blood and shot a glance at Seamist. "Pebblestone!" Racing forwards, she saw the body of her brother on the sandy earth, lying still, blood oozing out of his shoulder, cheek, and throat. He lie limply, not moving. Slipping up closer to her Seamist's mate, she nosed his fur. It felt cold. "He's gone," she whispered hoarsely, eyes clouding with pain.

Pinestorm arrived at the scene, stiffening as he recognized his father's stiff body on the ground, his grey fur matted with blood. "Pebblestone..." he breathed. "Father..." Not for the first time, he regretted going off with his kin without at least saying goodbye. He had thought this over many times when he had been reunited with Swallowsong, but now, as he sat down numbly beside what had been his father, he realized that most of all, he should have said his goodbyes to...Pebblestone. He nosed his fatherr's fur gently one last time, breathing in his scent. He knew that Seamist would be the hardest hit by Pebblestone's death, but as he whirled around, re saw that her eyes were not only filled with sorrow, but an odd sort of finality as well. It was almost as if she blamed herself for his death...but why?

[color=Ripplestream curled around her brother's light gray head and slowly rasped her tongue over his face and ears gently. "Why?" her eyes were unnaturally bright with sadness as she gazed over at Seamist, Hazeltera, and Pinestorm. Poor Seamist, her heart twisted in sympathy. Pebblestone's mate would take it the worst. She made a weak effort to smile; medicine cats couldn't just forget about her Clan in the death of a cat, even if it was her own brother. [/color]
