The sun rose higher over the valley of EmberClan. Browning the grass as the temperature rose in sync with the sun. Paw-step as light as feather could be heard over the valley which in turn sound like a million horses where running over the valley. No madder how quiet she stepped the vibrations of her paw-steps echoed even louder then she intended. Still young Coltstep didn't mind she wasn't out hunting which was unlike her so early in the morning.
Even pace for the she-cat she came upon the river so nice and smooth unlike her pelt. Look down at the clear water she grinned.
The water blue and clean so untouched by dirty paws. Licking her right paw clean, she dipped it in feeling the sudden rush of cold,fresh forest water tear thought her spin chilling every bone in her body. Filching at the sudden change she dare not move her paw. Licking the other clean she slowly begun her even slower descent down into the river, flinching from the cold.
Letting her entire body get use to the cold water she tried swimming, which she did well.
Padding in small circles she felt the heat return to her body the more she swam. Feeling her body loosen she swam father out almost to the other side. Still she dare not exit the water so close to ShoreClan borders.

Gracklewing was out on a hunting trip, and suddenly, she heard the echoes of movement in the distance, and decided to go and check what it was. The echoes brought her to the water bank, and as she tentatively approached it, she saw a small brown object bobbing in the water. Gracklewing, intrigued by this, walked a few steps closer, and noticed that the brown object was a cat.
"Do you need help?" , Gracklewing asked. She was prepared to dive into the water if the cat needed saving.

Coltstep's eye shoot up at the sound of a she-cat's voice. It was Gracklewing a fellow EmberClan warrior.
Placing her paws on a underwater rock to pushed agaisnt the current to stand on the rock.
'''I'm fine, just swimming'' She said sweetly taking a few hops along the bottom of the water placing her paws on the underwater rocks until she reached to riverbank. [/size][/center] |

Gracklewing looked at the startled she-cat in front of her and meowed an apology. Grackle wing padded up to the edge of the riverbank to sit down next to Coltstep.
" There arn't that many cats who like to swim in their spare time", Gracklewing said to Coltstep. Gracklewing stayed tentatively away from the water, to make sure she wouldn't get wet.

Coltstep looked at Gacklewing a small frown came across her face.
''Well for one I'm not like most cats''

Gracklewing saw the hesitation on Coltsteps face, and thought to herself, we are never going to become friends if I keep messing this up. Gracklewing slowly lowered her front paws into the water to test the temperature. It was a little on the cold side, so she began to ease in slowly to see what swimming was really like.

Coltstep's eye lighted up and she jumped back into the water. Squeaking a little at the sheer coldness of the water. Coltstep swam in the water circling Gacklewing.

Gracklewing stood shivering with her legs completly submerged in water. "It's r-really c-cold in here", she stuttered. It seemed a lot less cold when I just had one paw in the water, Gracklewing thought. Gracklewing turned to face Coltstep, and let some happiness show through her eyes when she saw the expression on coltsteps face.

Coltstep let out an even bigger grin but her smile grin turned to a worried look.
''You know that you don't have to be in the water in me. I won't be mad I guess I'm made for swimming. I don't know''
She purred taking the lead and leaving the frezzing waters.[/size]

"It's okay. I'm not in it for you. I'm in it because I want to try something knew." Gracklewing purred in response. She threw her shivering hands deeper in to the cold water, only to fling the water onto Coltstep in front of her. Gracklewing had a mischievous look on her face. She knew she did something she wasn't really supposed to do, but she wanted to see how Coltstep would react.

Coltstep's eye lite up as she splashed water back at Gracklewing. ''No far I wan't watchin'' She laughed swimming againsit the current kicking her paw harder making even bigger splashes. [/size]
