Hey everyone.
As some of you might know, the Staff were having a meeting to discuss various issues regarding the site. One in particular has been about how to get FWC to be a more literate site. Part of that is requiring members to post more than 3 lines of text. So, after talking it over, we've decided to up the minimum post requirement to 65 words. This is effective starting 9/12/08.
The other issue we discussed was that the other part about having a literate site was making sure everyone was using proper English, punctuation, grammar and spelling. As we've had a few members in the past that refused to improve after being repeatedly PMed about it, we've decided to do two things:
1) We will encourage people to use the RP Help board and to post there when they want tips or advice on how to improve their RPing skills.
2) We are going to be actively PMing those that aren't posting 65 words or aren't using Spellcheck. In the past, when we've PMed certain members to improve, it became apparent they were ignoring us and refusing to use Spellcheck. So, to give those certain members a reason to not ignore our PMs to improve, we have decided we will suspend members that steadfastly refuse to improve. The way it works is like this:
Let's say Bob and Jack are posting only 2 sentences and their spelling and grammar are bad. A Staff member will PM both of them separately and ask them to please use Spellcheck and to remember the minimum post length is 65 words. If Bob starts to improve, Bob is taken off the warning list and won't be PMed again unless he suddenly goes back to posting like he did before. Jack, on the other hand, decides he doesn't care what the requirements are and keeps posting 2 sentence posts and won't use Spellcheck. Jack will get 2 more PMs asking him to improve. If Jack ignores both of those PMs, a Staff member will send him a final PM with a warning that if his next post doesn't show improvement, he will be suspended for 3 days.
M'kays, I just want to add that we don't expect to actually have to suspend anyone. We did want to show that we are serious when we ask people to use Spellcheck and post at least 65 words so we had to add some teeth to it. And, if you have any questions or comments you can post here as we like feedback. ^^
Oh and the rules will be updated to reflect these changes soon once most everyone's had a chance to read and reply here.
