Name: Eclipsepaw
Clan: ForestClan
Rank: Apprentice
Age: 6 moons
Gender: Tom
Description: Eclipsepaw is tall for a tom of his age, his long limbs making him stand above his fellow apprentices ever so slightly. His pelt is a subtle mixture of black and grey, pure black along his back fading to a soft blue-grey on his underbelly. The length of is fur being between short and long, medium. The apprentice's long tail being an exception with longer fur making it appear similar to a two-leg's feather duster. Golden amber orbs flash brilliantly with his emotions, and sometime they are the only beacons to prove he feels anything at all.
Personality: To put it simply one would describe Eclipsepaw as distant. However, simple is not the best way in any aspect of reality to fully understand. He is very introverted, but he also knows this is not how a clan cat should really be. Trying to fit in and be more open is his game, although to deny one's nature and turn it against itself it a dangerous and rarely fruitful art. Usually he is stoic and can be cold to his clan-mates but at the same time is highly loyal to the Warrior Code and his clan leader. Eclipsepaw would give his life for his clan, even at such a young age and despite his bond making troubles. Being so young his intelligence is surprising, he knows things and understands subjects that only a much older cat would. Sadly, as with any heightened ability his intelligence leads him to see some others as less intelligent than he and thus below him. When those thoughts rear themselves in his mind he can be sarcastic and rude to those around him. Eclipsepaw tries to catch and correct himself when he feels like that, he knows it isn't right and believes that he should remain humble. Overall he has his faults to which he is trying to fix and therefore has plenty of room for error and correction in the life ahead of him to which he will grow and learn all he can.
History: One becomes who and what they are from their experiences, and thus maybe Eclipsepaw's introverted self is due to his past. His mother died in giving birth to him, he was the first born of the litter and the others did not survive. Any father would find it hard not to hate the son that in being born killed his beloved mate. And his sire was no different, he christened the kit his name, Eclipse, for the ominous sign that eclipses have been interpreted as for centuries. With a heavy heart, and the knowledge of how his mate would want him to love and care for the kit, Eclipsepaw's father tried to remain true to his mate and their kit for as long as he could hold on to his feelings. But of course, nothing lasts in that which we call reality and there came a day to which the tom could not take it anymore. Slipping into the shadows he was never to be seen again, and although none knew of it he died not long after in the jaws of a human monster.
Eclipsepaw, however, did not hold this in his heart and the only real negative of his past situation was him never gaining the parent-kit bond and thus being in himself rather then trusting himself to others. He grew as the moons came and went without a memory or sorrow towards his misfortune and as his apprentice days drew nearer still the young cat was filled with an eagerness to do his best and fight and provide for his clan.
IC: The wind blew in a soft breeze, Greenleaf was here and the hot sun warmed Eclipsepaw's ebony and ash pelt as he sat in the ForestClan camp. Oh how the anticipation made him shiver and the knot in his stomach threaten to come up his throat. But to any onlooker it was just a black and grey young cat, sitting by himself and watching a den that was known to the clan cats as the apprentice den. The day had come, one which had the most often stoic cat giddy yet frightened. From now it began, he was to start his training to be a warrior any day now and from that he could grow into something his clan would be proud of. The forest animals would whisper his name in their own tongues in fear and awe for the day he'd take their lives to feed his clan. Enemy warriors would cower in fear of battle against ForestClan, for they might have to face the omen cat.
Eclipsepaw shuddered again, those thoughts were dark and he didn't much have any liking to the sound of them. No, he would be noble and have honor. He would hope for nothing more then the fitting life of an ordinary warrior. The dark colored cat was no hero, no villain, no legend about to start. It was just him and his thoughts of grandeur that were not to be. Shaking his head he sighed with a wave of peace that made his head slightly fuzzy in the sun's warmth. Watching clan life as it was on a day-to-day basis was calming. Sometimes he just needed to remind himself that there was a picture going on here much bigger then himself. Cats went from here to there with meaning and ritual. Each knew what they had to do and how to do it, the warriors going on border and hunting patrols, the apprentices training with their mentors, queens watching their kits as they romped playfully, elders telling stories and remembering 'the good old days', and the medicine cat sorting and gathering herbs for times of wounds and illness.
Everything was running well and it made Eclipsepaw proud just to be a small part of it. This was clan life, and he was a clan cat. Something else, the life of a loner, rouge, or a kittypet, was just inconceivable to him. The thought of not having his clan mates all around him, even though he wasn't very close to any of them, was just horrid. And in itself this world of his was, at the moment, just right. Eclipsepaw thought it almost a sin how happy he was at the moment, but even through the brightness of the day he knew silverpelt was still up there. And his warrior ancestors had to be smiling upon him in StarClan.
