Hawkstar jumped atop the Highrock, mixed feeling swirling within her. Somehow she had always known this time would come. First the feeling, and then the prophecy...she just hadn't expected it to come this soon. She never would have expected it to come so soon, she knew, no matter how late it had come. And yet... Hawkstar sighed, looking around the clearing. She had to admit, it was for the best. It hurt like hell, but it was for the best.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!" Hawkstar was proud when her voice didn't falter, but stayed strong through the familiar call.
When they had gathered, Hawkstar set her jaw and, for once, remained standing. "I've called you all here," she began, "because it's time. Time for me to leave." Focusing intently upon her own thoughts, she pushed out all sight and sound of the clan gathered below her. She didn't want to hear them, didn't want to see their faces when they heard. There'd be time enough for that later, and right now she wasn't sure that she could stand it. "Much as Blazestar once left Emberclan on a quest beyond the mountains, it is my time to go. For longer. Maybe for good. I've...I've always known somehow. And there are things....there are things I have to do. Something I have to do, someone I have to find, and send back to the clans. I don't know where, just...just that there are cats out there somewhere, and one of them is special. You'll know if he comes, when he comes. Know that I sent him, and that I succeeded, and that things will be better because of it. Know that I love this clan, and every one of you, and I can hardly bear to tear myself away." She swallowed hard. "I couldn't at all...except...I'm not a young cat anymore...Forestwind will be a good leader, a strong leader. There are tough times ahead, and they call- they call for enthusiasm, youth. Strength, and a passion that I no longer have. It was already spent, as I am almost spent. The sign has come, and it is time. I'll leave at dawn tomorrow...I'd like to speak to all of you first. To say goodbye."
Hawkstar swallowed again, her eyes still focused on the cliff wall above all the cats heads. "I'm sorry." Turning abruptly, she leapt down from the rock and padded quietly to her den, unable to contain her tears any longer. Coherent or not, whether they would ever understand or not, it was said.
ooc- Hawkstar is going into the forest, in search of something. She won't be back. She's on a quest...one that may or may not eventually occur on the site, to find another group of cats and the kit who will be born to them. When she finishes the quest, and has sent him back to the clans...she...she won't be back. She only has one life...she's only ever had one life, the understanding was that it would last as long as she need it to, and- and she's had a good life, lived long and well, and she'll be joining Starclan before too much longer. After she's completed her quest, but...the clans won't be hearing from her again, not until they join her in the stars.
I'll remain as administrator of the site, but as Forestclan leader no longer. I don't have time, or, as Hawkstar said, the passion to continue on the IC side of things. I've been roleplaying cats and Hawkstar too long to still enjoy it as much as I want to. Almost six years...longer than it seems. I see people all around the site who still enjoy it, and even those who live for it as I used to, and I need to leave the stewardship of the clan to someone who can love that part of it. I still love Hawkstar, and the clan, and I'll miss roleplaying with all of you as much as Hawkstar will miss being around her friends and her clanmates. It's just something that has to happen for things to turn out best.

Owlclaw heard Hawkstar's call and dipped his head in sorrow, "You shall be missed, Hawkstar, but you shall go down in clan history as one of the best leaders a Clan has ever seen. I would like to thank you for your leadership through harsh times, it was great to serve under you. May your travels be swift and your journey safe, you shall be deeply missed" Owlclaw sat back down and waited for another cat to get up and say their last words to their leader
OOC: I'm feeling pretty much the same way, It's getting a bit old on me too, I'll still be around, though not as often. I'm really sorry, but I also have my future to worry about at the moment.

Lilywish shallowed hard, she was losing another good and close clanmate. ''Hawkstar be safe I will always look for you on the Clan border and I will never forget you.'' Lilywish said bowing her head with deep respect for her now former leader. Looking at Owlclaw she deeped her head at him as well. ''This is hard for you too? Lilywish said soflty dipping her head to her mentor. ''Can I come with you? Lilywish mowed looking at Hawkstar truth in her voice.
OOC-Hawkstar can just say no unless Lilywish could have the honnor to walk Hawkstar to the Clan Border *wink wink*

Spirit was shocked into disbelief. The very same person who had had enough sympathy and consideration to allow him to join the clan after a life of a rogue. " I can't believe it." he whispered disbelieving. He had thought she would actually stick around longer it had only been a moon since he had joined. 'I will follow her and make sure that she at least comes back, she can be an elder for all I care, but she needs to come back.' he thought.

Wildstorm bowed her head as grief hit her with crippling strength. Her chest felt tight and there was something in her throat that made it hard to breath. She looked up at Hawkstar, the strong, courageous leader she thought would be around until the end times. Well... it seemed the end times came early. She opened her mouth to call something to her leader, but then couldn't say anything. No words came out. Closing her mouth she crouched on the ground, tears overflowing from her eyes. She crouched there, shoulders hunched, and threw a fervent prayer to StarClan. Please, StarClan. She thought as her tears fell to the ground. Please, protect Hawkstar wherever she may go. All I want is for her to be happy and safe.
Yanghallow sat rigid by his foster mother's side, his shoulders stiff with shock. Hawkstar... she was leaving. He felt a jerk somewhere in his heart when he realized that she might never be coming back. His gaze burned into Hawkstar's brown pelt as his heart filled with sorrow. Lowering his gaze, he stared at his paws. He closed his eyes, recalling all of the memories he had of Hawkstar. He had known her all of his life, ever since he and Yinpaw first joined ForestClan. She had welcomed them despite their shadowed past. She was almost like a family member to him in some ways. Lifting his head slightly, he watched as the former leader padded to her den. "We'll miss you, Hawkstar." He whispered, his voice breaking.
Yinpaw crept to Wildstorm's side. Pressing her soft white fur against her foster mother's in support, she licked her comfortingly around the ear. Still pressing close to Wildstorm, she looked up at Hawkstar. Yinpaw's eyes were peaceful. Somehow, deep inside, she had known that Hawkstar's time was coming to a close. Maybe it was medicine cat instincts or maybe it was something else. Taking a deep breath, she stood and called up to her leader "Hawkstar, you know that this is what you need to do. Don't feel sad; this is the way it was meant to be. Everyone here will miss you deeply, and we are sorry to see you leave so suddenly. I - and I'm sure I can speak for the whole clan when I say this - will do everything in my power to try and do as good a job as you did in keeping this Clan going. No one will ever be able to forget you or what you did for ForestClan. We will always be waiting for your return, whether you decide to come home or not. But this is always your home; never forget that. May StarClan go with you, Hawkstar." Yinpaw sat back down and curled her tail around her paws, bowing her head in respect.
ooc- Hawkii, I hope you enjoy your retirement for role playing. I will miss you as ForestClan leader, as will many people. You were a great RPer, but I never RPed with you enough to truly experience it. Thank you for everything you've done here; you did a great job. I'll try and be around here more, I promise. :3

A hole hit her heart. It was as if someone clawed a piece from her life. "No!" Forestwind wailed inwardly. She would be leader.. but... so soon! Dizzyness took her over. The whole camp started to look fuzzy. "How could this be?" She whispered to no one in particular. She dreamed of this day, when she would become leader, but not so soon!

"Forestwind, Forestwind, Are you ok?" Spirit asks concerndedly. He saw Forestwind swaying on her paws, and thought something was wrong. "Why, why must you leave, why not leave it to some other cat to do?" he yelled up to Hawkstar. He was getting pretty infuriated, and he wasn't going to take some Starclan voodoo for an answer. "I think the entire clan has the right to know why you must go, and if it's a liable reason, why you must go alone." he says.

Emeraldpaw had been listening over by the apprentices' den. He couldn't believe it! It made him both angry, and sorta sad that Hawkstar would leave them! He was dumbfounded. She can't do this...Forestwind isn't really ready to become leader anyway, I don't much like her either... Thought Emeraldpaw as he dug his claws into the ground and then brought them back in again. He sighed and stared down at his paws for a moment. Fine, if she wants to do this, then let her. He thought stiffly and then turned his gaze to a yelling Spirit and let out a huff of disapproval. He wanted to say that it wasn't any of his business, but kept his mouth firmly shut. As he looked around camp, he saw many sad and depressed looking cats. He wanted to just roll his eyes, but then that would probably get him a wack over the head. Stop being a bunch of babies, be strong for Hawkstar. He muttered silently, as he averted his gaze and looked towards Hawkstar's den..

((lol, Everyone hates Forestwind! First Lillywish, now Emeraldpaw : P)
Forestwind shook her head in disbelief. She looked over in Emeraldpaws direction, noticing a hateful stare. Stupid apprentice, she thought. I would hate to mentor him. Her acute hearing picked up his muttering, and she looked at him disdain. Have a little more respect for your clan!
Fawnmoon had heard the whole thing. Hawkstar leaving, Emeraldpaws rudeness, everything. She felt sick. She padded into the Medicine den, convinced she had eaten bad prey and had a stomach ache.

Emeraldpaw could feel someone staring at him and he looked to see Forestwind looking in his direction. What's with her? He wondered as he saw that she didn't look pleased with him. He then just scowled and turned away. Stupid warriors, they think their all great and mightyful, if that's even a word.... He thought bitterly and then went to staring at his paws, fur prickling with unease. I wish she'd stop staring... He thought mildly as his tail drew to his side more. Mouse-brain [/blockquote]

Also as a warrior I would like to congratulate you on becoming leader. May StarClan light your path. She moewed sweetly walking toward Forestwind thouching her tail to her new leader's shouler. "I also wouldn't mind going with you to Highstone She whispered grining.

"I'm happy you made leader, and even though I don't know you much I'm still happy for you." Spirit said with a mysterious look in his eyes.
'Maybe if I work mch harder I can possibly become Deputy, but nonetheless I still sincerely doubt it, I mean who would let a loner become a deputy and possibly leader?' his hopes suddenly done as he thought this.

Owlclaw padded up to Forestwind "... Forestwind, I'm sorry for the way I've treated you after Lightstream died, I hope you'll forgive me" The Senior Warrior dipped his head to the new leader, "Sunstone and I will be here for many seasons more to give you advice on anything if you need help". Owlclaw silently hoped Forestwind would make a good choice with the deputy.

Forestwind nodded, speachless. No! They were already treating her like a true leader. This is what she always wanted, why did it make her so nervous? She padded up to Hawkstar slowly, then spoke softly. "I will never forget you, Hawkstar." She said quietly. Padding away, she caught another hateful glance from Emeraldpaw. I'm glad Eclipsepaw is my apprentice, not him.
Fawnmoon arrived from the medicine den. "Forestwind," she meowed urgently. She padded over to the new leader. "I'm sorry," she said quietly, knowing Forestwinds nervousness and pain. "You'll make a great leader, though." she said, her eyes sympathetic.
Forestwind nodded. "Thank you, Fawnmoon." she meowed breathlessly. She turned to Lillywish. "Remember, Lillywish. I was a rougue, also, before I came here. I understand..." She said, and then she padded out of camp, looking for her wayward apprentice, Eclipsepaw.

Eclipsepaw tilted his black head, Hawkstar was leaving? Well that had to be a big deal even though he had barely known her. The more interesting part was that is mentor, Forestwind was going to be the new leader. So he was training under ForestClan's new leader, that had to be something. The young cat felt a wave of pride wash over him, but quickly dissipated it reminding himself to be humble.
As he saw his mentor leave camp he guessed she was looking for him, it wasn't like he was anywhere near being in plain sight. Eclipsepaw had been sitting in the shadows of the far end of the apprentice den, not for any real reason it was just where he'd ended up being, and therefor his mentor had walked right past him. With a slight mrow of announcing his presence he followed Forestwind out of camp dilegently.
