Pawsteps whispered across the dunes like the faint reflection of the light breeze. A small kitten, definitely too young to be allowed out of camp on her own, padded quietly across the large sand dune. Her ginger-and-brown splotched pelt was a splash of color across the faded beige of the dunes. Duskkit's golden eyes flickered from side to side nervously. She knew that she shouldn't have snuck out of camp on her own, but she wanted to see something other than the broad leaves of the nursery for a change. Besides, she told herself, Devilkit and Morningkit are sneaking around outside all the time. Shouldn't I get a turn? Softly, placing each delicate paw with care, the kitten crested the largest of the dunes. The breeze tugged at the small pawprints she had left behind, distorting them.
