Icehawk stared down into the clear water and smiled at his reflextion. He got into a croutch and swayed before jumping in. SPLASH! He hit the water and was under for a moment and then came swimming in the water. He paddled a couple of paces and then got back to the shore. He walked out of the cool refreshing water and shook his pelt and said outloud, "That was refreshing..." he then sat down and began to groom his wet fur. Using graceful swipes of his paw, over his face first and then he began on his flanks, and tail.

After the mud battle with the kits, apprentices and her brother and his mate, Hazeltear was in dire need of a wash. Rubbing at her dirty muzzle every few pawsteps in disgust, she waded into the water and started scrubbing like mad. Her ears twitched as she heard some cat speak. That was refreshing... She rubbed at her muddy pelt until she could make out the tortoiseshell patterns underneath again, and twitched her whiskers in satisfaction. As she clambered out onto the bank, she found that the cat was still there. "Hello there," she mewed calmly. She had never seen the tom before, but he had ShoreClan scent, and that was good enough for her. Out of consideration, she refrained from shaking her sodden pelt, which would have drenched the newcomer.

Icehawk stopped his grooming when he saw a she-cat with Shoreclan scent come out of the water. He meowed, "Hello." He was half dry already so he stood up and mewed, "If you don't mind me asking, what's your name? I'm Icehawk." He smiled friendly towards her and twitched his blackstriped tail curiously.

(I have to join, especially considering I haven't been able to RP Silversun lately...lol)
Despite the large tom's best efforts, his paws and underbelly had become muddy after all. After attempting to ignore the squishiness of the mud against his sensitive skin and failing, the blind cat decided to go to the riverside and just wash off briefly. Of course, this meant he would be wet and miserable for most of the day, as his long, downy cream and silver fur took forever to dry, even if he spent the rest of the afternoon sunbathing.
Following his inner map and keen senses, Silversun quickly made his way to the riverside. The scent of water was so strong that he completely missed Hazeltear's scent, who was some ways upstream from probably, which meant she probably couldn't see or smell him. Silversun plodded resignedly into the water, padding around as to ensure that the mud came off. He ducked his head under just to be certain, before shaking out his thick fur.
The sound of his mate's voice caused him to pause in his movements, as to allow the chilly water to soothe around him. Sniffing the air more thoroughly, he managed to find Hazeltear's scent along with another scent, which was less familiar and definately male. While his first reaction was a streak of jealousy, Silversun managed to quickly calm himself down and instead decided to listen in and see what happened. Apparently, they hadn't gotten past polite greetings.
Silversun trusted Hazeltear with all of his heart, he had welcomed her back eagerly when she had returned with her mother and brother, almost frenzied he was so happy to scent her. He was every bit as nosy as the Elder she-cats in Shoreclan, and wanted to see what she would say about him.
(Hah hah. Couldn't resist. XP)

((LOL.)) Hazeltear finished grooming her pelt with her claws and teeth, and began to smooth it out with her paws. She sat down, and grimaced as more dirt stuck to her newly washed pelt. Cursing silently, she wished that she had inherited her mother's short fur and not her father's long-haired pelt. "I'm Hazeltear," she answered, as she stood up. "By the way, I'd advise you to move back." She moved a short distance away, and shook her sodden pelt with all her might. Sure, she would look like she had been inflated like a balloon because of the state of her fur, but she was beyond caring. Hazeltear sat down once more, and tried in vain to flatten her fur. Turning back to Icehawk, she mewed, "I don't think we've actually talked or met before. I was away for a few seasons a while back - is that why?" It wasn't that she particularly cared about making a new friend - it was just that she liked to know at least who her Clanmates were. Ever since she and her kin left, she had had a hard time readjusting to Clan life.

Icehawk shrugged his shoulders and meowed, "I guess..." He stood up and eyed Hazeltear. He then went to the edge of the river and watched the fish swim lazily through. He raised one paw and eyed this one big fish with his icy gaze and struck his paw in claws outstretched and pulled the fish out of the water and onto land. He hoped on it at once and bit into it, killing it. He picked it up in his jaws, although it was slippery he could manage, he walked back over to his spot where he was and dropped the silver fish infront of him. He smirked and meowed, "fine catch don't ya think?" He waved his tail back and fourth approvingly at his catch.

If there was one thing that got Hazeltear's hackles rising, it was an overinflated ego. She hated toms who treated her like a helpless female; she could help herself, thank you very much. One reason why she loved Silversun so much was because he wasn't quite helpless, but humble. He was the exact opposite of this tom who stood before her, smirking as though he had something to prove.
"Only one?" she mewed frostily. "I suppose that's only to feed yourself - what about the rest of the Clan?" She yawned delicately, showing off her pearl-white, razor-edged teeth. If his tail was waving in approval, hers was twitching in disgust. It wasn't that she disliked Icehawk, or at least in the beginning. It was just that she was a very independent she-cat, as she had been raised that way, and Icehawk had made the unfortunate mistake of rubbing her the wrong way almost instantly.
She figured that, since she was already at the river, it would probably be a good idea to hunt as well. Hazeltear sat down leisurely on the riverbank, lounging lazily, until a fish darted by. Quick as thought, she hooked it with one sharp, curved claw, and tossed it onto the bank where she sat. How do you like that?, she thought smugly, not bothering to look in Icehawk's general direction. Of course, while Hazeltear had had many seasons to perfect her fishing skills with her brother, hunting in the forest was something of a weakness with her. She disliked hunting in an enclosed space, and preferred the freedom of the open water.

Icehawk got the impression that Hazeltear didn't like him, all that much. He stayed calm and meowed cooly, "No, I'll get some for the clan, I think of the clan before myself." He narrowed his eyes at this she-cat and went back over to the water, eyeing this one fish as it swam near the bottom. He caught it with his claw and threw it on the bank, watching it wobble around for awhite before going in for another. He swiped it up swiftly and he eyed Hazeltear, and meowed annoyingly, "No need to be a frosty badger to me, it's not my falt I'm better than you." He frowned at her, a mean glint in his icy eyes.

OOC: Yikes. xD Hazeltear snorted in derision. "As if, furball," she mewed silkily. "You'd better watch your tongue. You haven't gone through half the things I have." And it was true - she was older and more experienced than him, and he hadn't gone through a crash course in survival as a new warrior. Her pale green eyes flashed dangerously, although she was sure Icehawk couldn't tell - her back was still to the maddeningly smug warrior. Egotistic cow-food eater, she thought crossly, as she continued to swipe fish onto the riverbank. At this rate, between herself and Icehawk, they'd probably end up fishing the prey from the entire stream, but she was beyond caring. Still fuming, she turned around and fixed him with her piercing gaze. "Too much pride is never a good thing," she meowed coldly, and turned back.

Icehawk curled his lip to her, but she couldn't see. He knew Hazeltear was older, and probably more experienced, he was just a young warrior. He stared at her with a cold icy gaze, but didn't show any signs of jeoulousy to the experienced warrior. He dipped his paw in the water, just drawing circles in the cool liquid. Then he thought of what she had said, 'too much pride is never a good thing.' He wondered what she meant. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind and tried to catch another fish.
He hit the fish out of the water and shook his paw, accidentally getting some drops on, Hazeltear, or was it an accident?(uh ohXD) He meowed, "Sorry..." But he had a smug look on his face, staring at her with narrowed eyes.
(getting bad...LOL)

OOC: It's getting funner, too. ;D Hazeltear barely flinched as the drops of water pattered on her pelt. She supposed it could have been an accident, but the insolent look on his face was inexcusable. Realizing that her pelt was still drenched, even after a good shaking, she considered her options - which wasn't too hard. Choice number one: shake pelt. Choice number two: refrain from shaking pelt. She really didn't want to stoop to his level, after having witnessed an even more juvenile and immature mudball fight involving her brother, but Icehawk had it coming. Eat my dirt, fox-face," she thought furiously, and shook her pelt with all her might. Her thick, tortoiseshell pelt trapped water like a sponge, and the water sprayed from her fur as if from a hose. It's raining, she thought dryly, and then, I have a really strange sense of humour.
"I'm sorry too," she mewed dryly, a challenge sparking in her eyes. Her tail flicked to and fro viciously; she had been denied the chance to flay her brother, Pinestorm - but here was a whole 'nother tom, who, in her eyes, had a 'kill me' sign on his forehead.

Icehawk was yet again drenched, from the water she shook all over him. He didn't mind the water though, so he meowed smugly, "Fisty one arn't you?" He stood up and shook his pelt away from her and and smoothed it back with his tounge. He had an annoying smirk on his face, and his eyes were focusing on her. He knew that this she-cat probably had a mate already, but he just liked bugging her. He meowed, "So, what do you like doing more, fishing, or just hunting out in the forest?" He was trying to get a decent conversation with her, so he wasn't permantly on her bad side.

Birdsong had been watching the whole time. She looked at them- the two warriors- in disgust. Having a contest! And look at them, wallowing in their pride! She shook her head. Well, she thought. I'll just have to wallow in my pride.
With a tremendous leap, she struck into the river, instantly hooking her claws on one fish. Her pther paw, though, had skidded on the sharp pebbles and started to bleed. She winced, but kept on swimming furiously. Soon, she saw another fish, and caught that one in her teeth. They were both dead instantly. She landed on the riverbank and put the fishes down.
"You are both as foolish as ducks!" she hissed. All she wanted to do that day was take a nice walk out of the stuffy nursery, and perhaps to swim a bit. But this? Never! " I am better than both of you... Combined!"

Icehawk stared at the newcomer and hissed in discust. He glared at her and growled, "What do you want? So what, you caught two fish!" He curled his lip and added, sarcasticly, "That's sooo wonderful." He lashed his tail out, noticably annoyed. He thought, 'she-cats are so unpredictable...' He stared at Birdsong with annoyance written all over his face.

Hazeltear eyed both of them in distaste. She rounded on Birdsong, and mewed frostily, "You are neither better than me, nor Icehawk - we are all equal in the eyes of StarClan." Great, she thought. This day just keeps getting better and better. First an annoying, egotistic tom decides to bug me. THEN, some mouse-brained she-cat just blurts out that she's better than all of us. Reaal smart, guys.
If her pelt wasn't so wet that she needed to dry it in what happened to be the sunniest place on ShoreClan territory, she would have left in her annoyance. Both newcomers were severely testing her patience, which was thin enough as it was. Suddenly, her nostrils flared. She could smell blood - cat blood, although there didn't seem to be a lot of it. "You're bleeding," she mewed less callously to Birdsong. She could tell that the she-cat was nursing kits; if the wound on her paw somehow got infected, the kits would be in trouble. "Let me help you with that," she murmured, as she snagged a leaf on her paw and pressed it to the wound before Birdsong could protest. She would have to hold it there until the bleeding stopped - which, unfortunately for her, meant staying on the riverbank with Icehawk.
"I like fishing better," Hazeltear mewed indifferently. "Anything else?"
((Hazel's not THAT proud - just really stubborn and short-tempered. xD))
