Okay, I finally want to do this.
I hate restrictions, but I think this one's necessary.
We've never really had a problem with mini-posts in the past, but we have one now and it's growing quickly. Three members are posting one-liners on a regular basis, and there's at least one member who has not once posted more than two lines of text since their bio was accepted.
I'm sick of it. This is a roleplaying site, roleplaying is writing, so everyone should be making an effort. I'm not talking about requiring paragraphs and paragraphs of text, just three lines. As long as there are at least two full lines and part of a third, a post will be considered acceptable.
The minimum requirement will make threads more enjoyable to read and participate in, and it will make posts a lot easier to respond to because there will be more information.
Like I said, I don't like rules and I have a stong dislike of limits or minimums, but I think this one is for the best since it hardly affects anyone and has lots of benefits for us and the site.
I've run this by the staff and it has a lot of support, so now it's official. As always, feedback of any kind is appreciated, but please be aware that I'm pretty set on this.
Hawk:)

I have a few questions:
1) Do we have to modify all earlier posts if they are less than three lines? 2) In the IC posts, ooc doesn't count in the three lines, right? 3) Do we always have to write at least three lines or is it just most of the time?

Oh, Hawk, here's one question: We don't have to write three lines if we ABSOLUTELY have nothing else to say? It's not hard writing more than three lines, and they almost always come out more than that for me, but sometimes a thread could be awkward, or something like that...

Mousey,: 1. No, I'm pretty sure you don't or else that would be a waste of your time. 2. ooc doesn't count because IC is IC and ooc is ooc.

Yes, if you post IC, it must be 3 lines... that's the idea. ^^
Hmm, you know what? I think I'll ask Hawkii if I can create a forum for helping people with their role playing. Those that write books for replies (lol - you know who you are!) can give tips and stuff to new rpers or those just wanting to get better. ^^ I'll pm her about it now. *hops off*

Well, I've not heard back from Hawkii yet, but with five people wanting to do it, I don't see why she'd say no. *hopes Hawkii replies to her PM soon*

I have a few questions: 1) Do we have to modify all earlier posts if they are less than three lines? 2) In the IC posts, ooc doesn't count in the three lines, right? 3) Do we always have to write at least three lines or is it just most of the time? 1) As Cloudii said, no. The minimum applies only to posts that are made from this moment forward. 2) Again, Cloudii is correct. Only IC text (roleplaying) is counted in the three lines. Anything out of character does not count, even if it is in the same reply as some ic text 3) All of the time. If everyone is typing at least three lines, there will be a lot more to respond to in your reply, so it will be easier to type longer. The more you type, the easier it is for someone who posts after you to respond. That's the idea behind this minimum. Wildshadow: We'll deal with that if it becomes a problem, but hopefully it won't. If you think really hard, there's almost always something else to type about your character's thoughts or details about their appearance or minor actions. I think the RP help board Ash has been talking about could have a thread that lists some suggestions for things like that, when there just doesn't seem to be anything else to type. But, like you said, that doesn't happen often. PM me if it starts to become a problem and we'll work something out.

No, it's not becoming a problem for me, really. But it does happen, once or twice. I do think it happens to other people as well, but hopefully it's not becoming a problem to most people...

Glad that this is finally official. I have set this standard for myself long ago and am proud to say that I have never, ever posted an IC post that was less than three lines. I try to post as much as I can but it's a very good point that with little to work with in the post prior to yours, if there's not enough information, there's not enough for me to work with, although it's never been a problem.
I could help with the RP helpsite too. On another site I RP on, my posts are usually "novel-posts", but I don't have the time or resources to do that everywhere. *sigh* O wells. Thanks for the new rule, I think it'll help all of us!
