Frostflash heard the queen's words but could not reply. Her heart was pounding rapidly with fear. She swam as hard as she could towards the rock, gasping for breath. Suddenly, her front paws brushed something in the water. It felt like- fur. Stormpaw! The grey warrior took a deep breath, trying to hold it as long as possible. Then she dived underwater, paws reaching for the apprentice. She grabbed Stormpaw's scruff in her teeth and began to haul her to the surface. Paws churning frantically, she dragged the limp apprentice towards the rock.

Dewpaw could only gape in shock as stormpaw was swept away. Fishing forgotten, she rasped, "Should I get help?" Her eyes strayed to the ShoreClan border. They were awesome swimmers. Dewpaw just needed to help.

Frostflash heaved Stormpaw onto the rock, gasping with the effort. The apprentice's waterlogged fur felt like it weighed more than a boulder. She nosed Stormpaw's limp body, eyes widening as she realized that the apprentice wasn't breathing. "Get a medicine cat!" the warrior called to Dewpaw, her voice cracking with fear. Without wasting time looking to see if Dewpaw left, she turned back to Stormpaw. Frostflash nudged the apprentice with a grey paw. "Stormpaw?" The young cat wasn't breathing, and her eyes were tightly shut. No! She can't be dead! Violet eyes wide with desperation, she tried to pick up the limp body. If I can get the water out of her... Stormpaw made a choking noise and water gushed from her mouth. Frostflash sighed in relief and laid her gently on the rock. "Hang on, Stormpaw."
Stormpaw was swimming in a dark sea. Her limbs were getting tired, and she felt freezing. Her soaking-wet fur had sapped all the warmth from her body. A wave slapped her full in the face, and the dark grey apprentice gasped. I don't know how much longer I can keep swimming... Every instinct was telling her just to relax, to slip underneath the cold water. Large shapes moved like fish under the waves, and she blinked. They looked like- cats. The water closed over her head, and she coughed and sputtered at the coldness. She was so tired... Suddenly it seemed to her that she was walking through the forest, her paws falling familiarly into place on the trails that she knew. But the forest seemed different somehow, clearer and sharply in focus. She took a breath and gasped as water flowed into her lungs, which began to burn like she had swallowed coals. Looking up, she expected to see the green trees overhead, but saw only dark water. Then the forest vanished, and she was alone in the dark. Stars shone coldly overhead, and for the first time it occurred to her that she might be dying... Then the stars began to fall in a swirling rain of crystal. One touched her nose, and burned her with its coldness. It was snowing. Snowdrifts rose all about pressing against her with searing chills. Stormpaw's blue eyes narrowed and her fur bristled. Suddenly she lashed out with a paw and the world shattered like glass...
Frostflash let out a great sigh of relief as she heard Stormpaw take a gasping breath...

Darkheart was out fishing downriver when he heard a cat's cries for help. Twitching his ears, he put the two fish he had caught aside and raced towards the Clan territories. Mousebrains, he thought for a moment then shook his head and bounded towards a few cats. Stopping a few taillengths away from the cats, he was about to ask, but soon saw a young cat floundering about in the water.
Not stopping to say anything, he hurled himself into the river and swam strongly, grasping the cats scruff firmly and pulled the small she-cat, an apprentice probably, back to the shore. The tabby rogue shook himself off and glanced towards the other cats, not knowing whether to help dry the soaking wet cat or not. Looking around self-consciously, his amber eyes darted from side to side, then he figured that he couldn't let the she-cat die, so he started rubbing her fur the wrong way to help warm her up, then he shook himself again and started walking away.
ooc - Too much powerplaying?

Frostflash gaped at the rogue who had pulled Stormpaw out of the water. Um... Okay... She bent down to rub the apprentice's fur some more, and was relieved to hear Stormpaw take a rasping breath. "You'll be okay, Stormpaw," she whispered. Looking up, she saw Darkheart walking away. "Thanks," she called. Then she turned her attention back to Stormpaw, not caring if the rogue had heard her or not.

Darkheart turned his head as another cat meowed at him. "It was nothing," he muttered, bounding away back into rogue territory, not looking back again. He hated anything to do with Clan cats since they moved into Korkea Maa and took over most of his best friend's, Cedar's, territory, but he couldn't just let that young cat drown...

Dewpaw, seriously scared, ran off and bumped into Crystalpool. Great. Cinnamostreak's worst enemy and StormClan meddie. Wait. Meddie? "Crystalpool!" she called over the border. "An apprentice drowned!" hurry up and help!" Crystalpool narrowed her eyes but sprinted over the border cautiously. "As long as Cinnamonstreak isn't there..." she muttered.

Stormpaw was lying limply on the rock, her breathing growing weaker with every second that passed. Her blue eyes were squeezed tightly closed. Am I dying? the grey apprentice wondered. Her mind seemed to be wandering in a fog. I hope not... She took another breath, even smaller than the last. Oakpaw...
Frostflash looked around wildly, her violet eyes huge with fear. She saw Dewpaw standing next to Crystalpool, and hope surged inside her. for a second, she even forgot that Crystalpool was a StormClan cat. "Crystalpool! Hurry!" she called frantically. "She's barely breathing!"

Shaodwjumper caught her breath only to see Strompaw lying on the ground begging for breath. Looking up into the sky she felt a pin of sorrow her clanmate was going to meeet with StarClan before she needed to. Glancing over to wher she saw Dewpaw her eye looked back on her Deputy. ''We need to help her I think she can join StarClan tonight Her voice was hallow as she spoke thinking of the death that lingers where the appertince laid. Thinking of when she saw her foster mother running with her a idea was coming into her head. ''StarClan walkes with use she might have a chance Not thinking she press her paw onto the appertince's belly to push the water out of the coking appertince. "I've seen Stonestream do this before trust me She sadi as she waited for the appertince to spit up the water if she had done it right. Her eye whelled up with tear thinking she was doing her best to safe the appetice of certine death. OOC to much?

ooc: Where is Kiri-Chan? *looks around* If Cinnamonstreak and Oakpaw came in it would be much cooler. And I don't think that was powerplaying, Vampriss Lilly. Crystalpool's eyes narrowed as Shadowjumper began tending to Stormpaw herself. "Here." she breathed, gently but careful not to dispute, moving Shadowjumper a little over. (Don't worry, I have my herb list from my book.) Thyme will calm her nerves... Crystalpool's mind suddenly went blank. "Dewpaw, get thyme and coltsfoot." Coltsfoot, good for shorrtness of breath... "Quick!" she added when Dewpaw still stood there. Returning her gaze on Stormpaw, she prayed not to let... whats his name? Oh, Cinnamonstreak be here. She would have her fur gone in a second. "Stormpaw.. can you hear me? You'll be okay." she mewed. She wanted to make up to EmberClan for hurting Dewpaw, the apprentice she had sent out. Will she need yarrow to expel the water??? she wondered frantically. No, it expels poison. Crystalpool calmed down. "Get the water out of her."a voice whispered. Whipping around, a pale figure stood by her. (Yay Dawndew's here! lol) Wait. This was Dawndew, the dead warrior... She wasn't even a medicine cat. But Crystalpool knew she was right. Shadowjumper was already doing that. "Get as much out as possible." she whispered tightly. If Stormpaw was lost, she would be hated by EmberClan forever. Maybe if Shadowpaw was here... Dawndew's pale green eyes gazed at hers. "Now make her warm, I think." Dawndew murmured. You can't think! But if I don't trust her, Stormpaw might be lost. "We have to warm her up." she ordered more firmly. "Quickly." A moment later Dewpaw returned, limping awkwardly but in her paw, were thyme. "No coltsfoot. I couldn't find any." Dewpaw gasped, her gaze on Stormpaw. "Don't let her die." I'm trying, Dewpaw! She thought angrily. Okay. Heathersky knows where coltsfoot grows. Maybe Dewpaw can get her. Applying the thyme on, Crystalpool visibly relaxed. "Thank you, Dewpaw." she meowed graciously. Dipping her head, the Medicine Cat of StormClan continued her work, deciding to let Dewpaw rest. Quite frankly, she was less worried but was still panicking. Let the thyme sooth her. Crystalpool told herself. Stormpaw wil lbe fine. With hesitation, she added, please. OOC: Not dramatic or powerplaying right? *hopeful face*

(Um, wasn't this thread was originally before the flood? If it's after the flood I don't think its a good idea for Cinny to be here because of his feelings about Crystalpool for having hurt Dewpaw, but if you guys insist... all I'm gonna say is Stormpaw better show improvement in the next post or Crystalpool's getting chucked in the river. lol)
Oakpaw had been hunting near the camp, hoping to impress Songheart by her seeing him bring freshkill back for the Clan when he heard someone yelling for Crystalpool. Popping his head up, he was about to go fetch her when Crystalpool appeared and went to where the cat was yelling... Something about an Apprentice had drowned. His heart clenched with fear as he knew nearly every Apprentice in all four Clans and he couldn't stop himself from following Crystalpool.
When he arrived at the scene his heart plummeted to his toes at seeing the Apprentice they were talking about. It was Stormpaw. "NOOO!" He screamed and raced over; terror at losing his dear friend making him frantic. "She can't die! Stormpaw! STORMPAW!" He screamed, trying to fight his way through the Warriors surrounding her to get to her.
Cinnamonstreak had been looking for Dewpaw for a good 20 minutes. He'd wanted to take her on a training session after lunch, but the she-cat had simply disappeared. Sighing he followed her scent trail and found it led to the river. Frowning, he wondered why on earth she'd be all the way out here when he heard some cats screaming. Forgetting about finding Dewpaw for the moment, he spun around and raced towards the sound.
Exiting the tree line he was met by a scene that for a moment, made him stop and gape. Frostflash and a rogue were dragging an unconscious Stormpaw out of the water, Shadowjumper was freaking out and Dewpaw was racing back with... oh my word CRYSTALPOOL! The rogue slipped off and Shadowjumper and Crystalpool started working on Stormpaw, but Cinnamonstreak was seeing red. Who the HECK had thought to bring THAT useless wretch of fur to tend Stormpaw?!?! "Get your bloody paws off HER before you KILL HER!" He snarled in fury as he ran over. He was about to savagely rip Crystalpool away from Stormpaw before she killed the Apprentice or worse with her stupidity when Oakpaw arrived and promptly flipped out.
As the young StormClan Apprentice raced over screaming and trying to get to Stormpaw, Cinnamonstreak knew the tom had to be restrained while Stormpaw was tended to or Oakpaw would just make things worse. Cursing his forced decision to have to restrain Oakpaw and rely on Crystalpool to tend to Stormpaw, he glared pure hate and death threats at Crystalpool. His gaze swearing to her that if Stormpaw died, she would too.
Turning to meet Oakpaw, Cinnamonstreak lashed out a paw and rudely tripped him before pouncing the Apprentice to hold him back. "Oakpaw calm down! She'll be fine!" He yelled at Oakpaw, wrestling with the panicked tom to keep him from rushing the group tending Stormpaw."NOO! NO! I gotta see her! NO! STORMPAW! YOU CAN'T LET HER DIE!" Oakpaw kept screaming.
After several minutes of wrestling with the screaming Oakpaw, it was becoming obvious that Oakpaw was completely unconsolable and there was no reasoning with him at this point. Cinnamonstreak grabbed the male by his scruff and forcibly dragged him away several yards with Oakpaw screaming and fighting crazily to get away every inch of the way.
Cinnamonstreak had honestly never seen Oakpaw in such a state and didn't know what to make of him. Oakpaw had always been so levelheaded everytime Cinnamonstreak had seen him... He had no idea Oakpaw and Stormpaw had been such close friends... Cinnamonstreak did know however that Oakpaw had to calm down and so Cinnamonstreak did the only other thing he could think to do. He sat on him and forced his face into the dirt to briefly cut off his air and force the male to calm down or pass out.
As he was dragged away from Stormpaw all he could think was he was being pulled away so he wouldn't see her die. Die. Stormpaw was gonna die. The mere thought of that sent him into fits of despair and anguish. NO! She couldn't die! She couldn't leave him! He needed her! Oakpaw didn't understand why he couldn't bear the thought of losing her, but he was past rational thinking at this point. For the first time in his life, Oakpaw was completely out of control.
"No! Let me go! I gotta be near her! She needs me! Stormpaw!" He screamed as Cinnamonstreak dragged him behind a tree and-- SAT ON HIM! He-he couldn't breathe! Oakpaw fought blindly for several seconds before a sharp pain in the back of his head crippled him. His eyes rolled up into his head and he fell limp, his body twitching slightly from the severe exertion and stress. A moment later sweet air flowed into his lungs as Cinnamonstreak got off him, but Oakpaw was too weak and tired to do anything more than moan. His eyes fluttered shut as he fainted.
Cinnamonstreak remained on Oakpaw until he felt the male stiffen and go limp, signalling the trick had worked. It was a very nasty way to calm someone down, not to mention a method that shouldn't be used except in extreme cases, but Oakpaw had clearly been over the top in his reaction.
Sniffing the male carefully to make sure Oakpaw was alright, his ears twitched as Oakpaw merely moaned before passing out briefly. "About time." Cinnamonstreak muttered to himself before sitting down tiredly next to him. Dang! That little creep freaking wore me out! He thought crossly as he sighed and rested for a moment. His eyes glanced around the tree as he looked to see how that group was doing. If Stormpaw died...

OOC: sorry kiri, but Cinnamonstreak's way of making Oakpaaw shut up was so funny! ^^
Oh great StarClan... Cinnamonstreak was here.
Get your bloody paws off HER before you KILL HER!
Crystalpool snarled but managed to keep her cool. "Cinnamonstreak." her voice was dangerously low. "I am not hurting this Apprentice." her voice wavered between anger and dismay of his sudden appearance, but she finally kept it dismay-ish and calm. "If you could... help... that would greatly affect your Clanmate, in a good way." Whipping back around, she was clearly not deaf to Oakpaw's screams. Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, please! She moaned in her head. Pressing her paws gently on Stormpaw again, she was almost relieved when Cinnamonstreak sat on him. Dewpaw was dangerously close to her and Crystalpool flinched slightly. "Dewpaw, check on the poor tom your mentor sat on, please." she ordered. Dewpaw dashed off over to Oakpaw and came back a moment later. "Crystalpool, he's okay." Dewpaw reported. As if reading Crystalpool's mind, she added calmly, "I know how to get Cinnamonstreak away." "What great luck!" Crystalpool mewed aloud. "But, uh-" Crystalpool knew if Dewpaw sent her mentor away he would be suspicious and chuck me in the river. "-But... he needs to sit on Oakpaw more?" her voice was terribly fake. With a sigh, she just added, "Run along now, or help, please. Expel the water by pressing -gently- on her belly. Okay?" Dewpaw merely nodded and got to work.Coltsfoot, or Stormpaw might die... There was only two cats left to plead. It had to be Frostflash or Cinnamonstreak. Okkkkaay. Frostflash first. "Frostflash, do you know where coltsfoot grows? It looks like a small dandelion flower. I need some." Without waiting for an answer, Crystalpool worriedly helped Dewpaw and Shadowjumper in. If she dies, I can imagine myself drowning in the river. she chided weakly with herself as she continued. Press, press. Be okay, be okay. So it would like that until Cinnamonstreak would kill her... Stormpaw??? O StarClan, do you want me to die too? Shadowpaw hasn't finished his training yet! Jeez. Why werre her ancestors so difficult?

The ShoreClan border was close to the EmberClan border, where Windpaw was hunting. She had snuck away from camp for a while, as she often did, to get in some solo practice at her hunting skills. Knowing Swallowsong would probably be irritated with her for running off on her own, she amended herself to catch a lot of fresh-kill for the Clan. Windpaw was annoyingly disobedient sometimes, but she was very loyal to ShoreClan. She cared very much about the well-being of it.
She caught a couple of mice, and chided herself that she could definitely do better. Hunting near the border was risky business, so Windpaw was extra careful to heed the scent markers. The half of the stream that was on ShoreClan territory was available to her, so she started to fish when she heard cats yowling madly. Looking up with her bright blue eyes, she looked around for a moment. Who was that?
Deciding it was important, because no cat made that racket for no reason, she reeled across the border. She was well aware but unheeding of the kind of trouble she would be in when Swallowsong found out. Bolting directly towards the source of the noise, the ShoreClan apprentice skidded to a halt just past the reeds that surrounded the small clearing. Her jaw agape, she tried to gather in her mind what she was seeing. Blinking a couple of times, she gathered her thoughts for a second.
Oakpaw was yowling, screaming about how Stormpaw was going to die or something. Since Windpaw was friends with all the apprentices, she felt her heart jump in worry at that. Noting that Cinnamonstreak had that situation pinned, she glanced at the apprentices who were frantically rushing around. And then she spotted Shadowjumper, Frostflash, and Crystalpool, standing around...
Stormpaw... and she wasn't moving, and her fur was soaking wet... Windpaw almost panicked, but she briefly remembered Oakpaw's reaction. Forcing herself to stay calm and take deep breaths, she padded forwards. Her paws were shaking, she was scared for the EmberClan apprentice that was her friend. Standing stiffly by Stormpaw's side, she forced herself not to do anything that she would regret later, especially not panicking. That would be bad.
"Is there anything I can do to help right now?" Windpaw inquired frantically. Not waiting for a reply, she started licking Stormpaw's fur the wrong way, like Ripplestream did for the cats in ShoreClan that fell into water and got wet, around the paws of the cats pushing water out of her.
