Shadowfire sniffed the air suspiciously and stalked around, tail-tip twitching. stiffening, he tipped his head back so that he could scent the air. "A trap," he hissed, and padded warily forwards, whiskers twitching anxiously. He could see a shining metal object just up ahead, and he knew immediately that it was a trap. he padded closer.

Stormycloud saw that they were currently busy with a trap so she continued searching the area. "Found another one!" She called back. The she-cat picked up and stick and set off the trap easily.

Shadowfire accepted the stick gratefully and poked it into the shining loop. He tried not to flinch as its unforgiving metal jaws clamped down on the twip, crushing it so hard that it snapped. "Great work, Stormycloud," he called.

Songheart padded through the silty soil of the dry streambed. It always seemed quiet. She was hunting, and her prey was cached in a hole in the ground, buried by soil to ward off scavengers. She heard noise ahead. The ginger she-cat padded to where she heard voices. "Hello," She called, then stopped suddenly. Right in front of her, a silver gleaming trap lay open like jaws, awaiting the mis-step of any cat or animal. Songheart shuddered. Twolegs were unbelievably cruel. She took a branch in her mouth and set off the trap; the metal snapped near her face, but she glared at it icily, not flinching.

Shadofire added his voice to Cloudmist's. "Hi there," he mewed. "Like Cloudmist said - we're setting off some traps - and good work there," he added, glancing down at the trap she had set off. He sniffed the air warily. he could smell more traps, but they were farther away. "shall we move on?" he asked.

"Okay," Cloudmist agreed, "But shouldn't we come back here regularly to check the traps - just in case the Twolegs set them again?" she suggested.

Stormycloud nodded. "Yeah, but after we check the rest of the territory we should ask Galestar about what else we shoudl do." She suggested.
