Stormycloud looked around. "For now we should check for other traps and set them off. Galestar might not want us panicing the other cats unless there are more than just one old one." She suggested.

Shadowfire nodded seriously. "If a cat got its neck stuck in one of those things..." He didn't bother finishing the sentence. If a cat got its neck stuck, it would be slowly strangled to death - he just didn't want to think about it.

Cloudmist shuddered and nodded. "Where should we go now?" she asked.

Shadowfire motioned to a small clearing, not too far away. "I scented Twolegs there, and I think I saw a trap there," he mewed. He sniffed the air cautiously and warily padded forwards, making sure not to put too much weight onto his injured paw.

Stormycloud modded and followed carefully, checking where she stepped before she set each paw down.

Shadowfire smelled the air again. The reek of twolegs was stronger, and he could see the trap, glittering in the sunlight. "There it is," he hissed. "What do we do?" He looked at the two she-cats. He had no idea how to spring the traps, short of sticking a paw into them.

Stormycloud picked up a stick and set it off as she had seen Cloudmist do. "I wounder if there are anymore." She meowed after putting the stick down.

Shadowfire shrugged uneasily. "Probably," he mewed thoughtfully. Glaring at the trap, he mewed, "Why are the twolegs setting up these mouse-brained traps? Do they want to kill us all?"

"Dunno," Cloudmist muttered. "Twolegs are all mousebrained idiots!" She glanced at the trap, "Maybe they're not for us - for some other animal."

Shadowfire shrugged again. "Maybe they just want to kill everything in the forest," he suggested darkly.

"Well, I don't think they're that idiotic!" Cloudmist protested. "Come on, let's go find some more traps and spring 'em."

Shadowfire tried hard not to shrug again. "Okay," he mewed, and sniffed the air. "Can you find any more traps?" he mewed to the two she-cats. His sharp nose couldn't detect anything - but maybe his nose wasn't that sharp after all.

Cloudmist sniffed the air, "Over there!" she mewed. "Behind that tree!"

Stormycloud followed the two carefully.

Shadowfire nodded respectfully to cloudmist. 'Well spotted," he mewed, and padded warily forwards. He poked the trap like he had seen Stormycloud and Cloudmist do, and tried not to flinch as its metal jaws clamped down on the twig.
