Lightstream bounded well ahead of the others, looking careless, but every sense of her body was alert for sights, smells, or sounds of danger. She picked up the faint trace of badger and blood, and realized they were near the clearing where they had had a battle with a badger. She slowed down into a crouch, waiting for the other cats of the patrol to catch up.

Owlclaw saw Lightstream crouch further up and bounded up to meet her, beckoning for the other cats to follow, he pressed his flank up to Lightstream's, "Found anything?"

((Are they going to find it and Jetpaw kill it, or something along those lines? =D))
A night-black streak of energetic fur pursued Owlclaw's pawsteps closely. Jetpaw remained behind Owlclaw the entire way, excited to no end by a sense of danger and excitement over the coming of his warrior ceremony. Feeling like a kit again, he felt giddy, but kept all of his senses sharp, in the case that a badger could still lurk around.

ooc - I think it would be fun if they find a badger set and the whole patrol kill the badger(s) inside.
There's the clearing where the badger was killed," Lightstream pointed with her tail, "why don't we follow its trail and try to locate its set?"

"fine, let's follow it's trail", Owlclaw meowed, glad that his mate had came with them, "Let's hope there aren't any badgers at all around". Are there? he thought, Are there badgers around, would you sacrifice your life for your clan, a voice said in his head.

Lightstream started creeping forward, her belly fur brushing the ground. She crossed the clearing to the thick undergrowth on the other side. There, she found it harder to follow the badger's trail. The scent was stale, she guessed the badger had been wandering around Oak Grove for some time.

((It was part of Jetpaw being made a warrior for him to kill the badger ))
The ink-furred apprentice paced forwards with the patrol. He followed the ForestClan deputy into the thick undergrowth, feeling leaves brush his pelt. Jetpaw glanced around warily, open to all around him. The scent of the badger seemed recent enough that it had been here, but where... A sharp crack of a twig to Jetpaw's left alerted the apprentice of the prescence of a hulking mass of black fur. One white stripe ran down its muzzle and to its short tail. The badger reared, its powerful musky scent in Jetpaw's nose. He backed up a few steps, hissing, then scrambled up the base of a medium-sized, rotting tree. Wha-? The tree began to fall. "Out of the way!" He cried, the tree toppling quickly towards where the badger stood.

Lightstream whirled around in alarm, then jumped smartly out of the way as the tree began to topple over. She tensed her muscles, ready to fight the badger, just in case the toppling tree missed it and they have to fight.

Jetmoon's claws sunk into the rotting wood as it fell sharply. The badger did move, however - enough to only be clipped by the oncoming tree. Its right side was caught under the tree, and its right hindleg and foreleg were crushed by the weight of the dead tree. Jetmoon's eyes were wide as he tensed, sheathing his claws and hopping off the trunk. He stayed a respectable distance from the trapped badger, who roared viciously and snapped at the cats, scrabbling on the ground. It was bleeding from its wounds profusely. "Should... Should we put it out of its misery?" Jetmoon wondered aloud tentatively.

Lightstream replied Jetpaw's question by suddenly springing forward and biting down deep into the badger's shoulder, missing its throat by inches. The striped head whipped around, jaws snapping at her. She jumped away just in time to avoid being bitten by the sharp teeth.

Jetmoon watched the badger, furrowing his brow. If he timed it right... As Lightstream darted in and injured it, as it was focusing he bolted towards it, sinking his claws deep into its throat. It let out a gurgle, scrabbling futilely on the ground, scrabbling the leaves around. He yanked his claws out, sinking them into the soil to rid himself of some of the gore. The bager flailed, almost dead, its body giving its last before it passed.
