The camp was, to the silver medicine cat, a place of haven in which the EmberClan cats could sit safely under the boughs of the trees and rest. Rest was always a good thing, considering the tense air StormClan had exhibited with EmberClan, and how hard every cat had worked during the flood to ensure each other's safety. It warmed Heathersky's heart to know that everyone had pitched in and helped when the lands ran over with water. Even at that, peace was not complete, but there was a united front to EmberClan, driving out the weakness with strength unknown in easier and lazier times.
She sat at the entrance to her den, a silver smudge on the shadowy, shaded entrance to the haven of herbs and healing. Watching the cats in the camp, she thought sadly of how isolated she was. StarClan shared with her things that she couldn't spread among other cats. The only cat she could talk about these things with was Blazestar, and the leader had been absent for long periods of time. It was one of the various concerns in her young mind that she always thought about.
She was only a few moons older than Stormpaw, and yet, she had been made a medicine cat and laid upon her were burdens befitting more aged and experienced cats. There was Frostflash, and she appreciated the deputy's guidance in many things, but she had a lot of things she had to do despite that. Watching and listening as Shiningkit asked Stormpaw about half-Clan cats, something wavered just outside her memory that she couldn't put a paw on. Perhaps it had something to do with her past, but she had no way of knowing about that. Her past may always lay shrouded in veils of darkness, before she had been found right outside of EmberClan's camp as a helpless and mewling kit, until the end of her days.
Something gripped her, seized her heart and demanded her to find out what had happened to her real parents and family. Overwhelmed with this new feeling that she had to do something about not knowing, she had to struggle with that, thinking about the fact that she was the medicine cat and the Clan needed her here to help them. Sitting there, she looked on at the other cats, longing to join them and yet knowing she was often cold and in her own solace too deeply for others to want to befriend her.

Shiningkit kept running, even as she felt more than heard Stormpaw come up right behind her. Then she squeaked and fell forward, her ears just barely brushing Stormpaw's belly fur as the apprentice once again shot over her. But this time, Shiningkit looked up, her eyes wide and her paw held off the ground. "Oww!! I got a thorn stuck in my paw!"

Stormpaw whirled in a circle as Shiningkit fell. She stretched out a paw to tag her- and stopped dead when she heard the kitten's piteous wail.
"Oww!! I got a thorn stuck in my paw!"
Wincing, the apprentice hurried to Shiningkit's side. Great. Just when this was getting fun... Her eyes grew wider as a scary thought invaded her mind. Uh oh... If her mother finds out that Shiningkit was playing with me when she got hurt, I'm dead. "Are you okay?" she asked, as concerned for her own welfare as much as the kit's. "Should I pull it out?" Her eyes lit up as she saw Heathersky sitting a short distance away. Stormpaw beckoned to the medicine cat, keeping one eye on Shiningkit to make sure that she wasn't trying to walk on the injured paw. "Heathersky, Shiningkit has a thorn in her paw!"

Shiningkit saw Stormpaw watching her and rolled her eyes. "I won't walk on it! I'm not that mouse-brained." She too looked over at the Medicine cat. "And in all honesty, it doesn't hurt that much anymore. Just surprised me." She looked at her paw thoughtfully and gave an experimental tug at it, but winced and held the paw away from her. "I am so not going to be a medicine cat."

Heathersky watched the games, an amused smile on her narrow silver muzzle. Watching and listening, she heard the wail of a startled kit from where she sat. Shiningkit's paw was held off the ground by the kit, and the words evoked that familiar nurturing instinct in the medicine cat. Standing and padding over to the two, good humor twinkling in her gray eyes as she listened, she inspected the paw.
"I am so not going to be a medicine cat."
Heathersky laughed gently. "It's alright, it's a harder road to follow than it looks like it is. Your paw will be fine, but it might sting for a few seconds." Nosing the thorn, she gripped it gently between her teeth and yanked quickly. Rasping her tongue against the pad, she stemmed the slight bit of blood that emerged, kindness in her affirmative nod.
Events had matured her beyond her mere thirteen moons, but that didn't mean she couldn't act like an apprentice again. Crouching and narrowing her eyes playfully, she swished her tail, then tackled Stormpaw.

Shiningkit smiled and opened her mouth to thank her Clan medicine cat, but instead she yelped as Heathersky tackled Stormpaw. But then Shiningkit laughed and jumped on the two she-cats, jumping at either tail.

Stormpaw sighed in relief as Heathersky pulled out the thorn. Good. I'll live. She opened her mouth to thank the medicine cat- and was quite abruptly knocked off her paws. For a few seconds, the apprentice had no idea what had happened. Had she fallen over? Then she grinned as she realized that Heathersky had tackled her. Growling happily, she poked her friend with a paw. "Gerroff." Then Shiningkit was attacking their tails, and Stormpaw started to laugh helplessly. "Help, someone!' she called in mock horror. "I'm trapped!'

Shiningkit squealed in happiness. 'I have friends!' She thought. But she froze when an unfamiliiar scent drifted on the air. Shiningkit backed off the two playing she-cats and sniffed the air. "What's that smell?" She wondered aloud. She turned her head to a rustle at the Camp entrance and froze at the narrow snout and lithe, bright red body that slid into camp. She had never seen one of these creatures, but overheard the apprentices and warriors talking about them. She took a deep breath and yowled so loud it echoed around the camp "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Laughing, Heathersky said, "No way." Turning suddenly as Shiningkit bit her tail, she let out a "Mraoww!", standing up suddenly. With a giggle, she watched the expression on the kit's face, but realized that something was wrong. Following the small cat's gaze, she saw the russet fur a second before Shiningkit's outburst. Her gray eyes narrowed.
"Stormpaw, could you please take Shiningkit to my den? Foxes probably don't appreciate the scent of herbs." Her stormy eyes were locked on the red pelt. I've got to... I should... maybe I... On the outside, Heathersky appeared calm, but her heart was hammering and her mind was racing. Her pelt started to bristle, and she turned to retreat into the den.
"Everybody get into the dens!" She yowled to all of the potentially surrounding cats. Whipping into the medicine cat den, she quickly looked around to ensure that Shiningkit and Stormpaw had entered also, and peered out of the darkness at the endangerment to the Clan. Oh, I'm so useless... hopefully Frostflash can do something...

Shiningkit crept up alongside the medicine cat, but dared not venture out into the open. Despite her trembling, her voice remained stead as she said "What will we do? Shouldn't a cat chase it out?" She looked around the clearing as the fox began to sniff the air. "How good is a fox's sense of smell?"

At first, Stormpaw figured that Shiningkit was playing a trick on the, She turned to poke the kit playfully- and froze. Great Starclan! She turned to Heathersky, eyes wide with fear. "What should we-" The apprentice stopped, mid-sentence, as she heard the medicine cat's words. Nodding, the grey cat beckoned to Shiningkit and started towards the medicine cat den. Her steps were quick and jerky with fear.

Shiningkit looked back at Stormpaw. "You're an apprentice, can't you just fight it off?"

(Is this in the clan or outside IDK I'll change it if so) "That's enough you two, I'll take it." Deathclaw said as he stepped out of the thrush. "You guys go for back-up, ok." he ordered. Then he turned toward the russet-furred animal and bared his large teeth. "Come on you stupid hunk o' fur, bring it!" he yelled from the clearing at the fox.

A loud yell echoed around the clearing, and Sugarkit raised her head in alarm. "Wha-?" she muttered, stumbling to her feet. "What wasat?" The kit's mind was still full of the fog of sleep, but she was peripherally aware of two things. One, that Shiningkit was not in the nursery. And two, that the half-remembered noise that had awakened her had been a shout of panic. Sugarkit blinked as her thoughts began to focus. Half of her wanted to run to the entrance to see what was wrong...the other half wanted to ask someone.
Safer thought wins! she thought, pushing herself into motion...not toward the opening in the nursery wall, but to the nearest sleeping cat. "Wake up!" she said, her voice automatically pitched quitely. "I mean, wake up!" The second call came louder, as Sugarkit jabbed a paw into the unresponsive pile of fur. "I think something's wrong!"
ooc-The sleeping cat? Any kit or queen who might have reason to be sleeping in the nursery. It's not very well thought out, I just have to post something with Sugarkit before I go insane. Please.
