Ripplestream gave up after a few minutes and rushed back to Midnightstar, just in case the ebony she-cat had problems. She slipped into the den and found Twilightsong talking to the leader. As she caught the last couple sentences, she grinned with amusement and meowed softly, "Don't worry, Twilightsong," looked over at the deputy, "I'm sure Midnightstar can make it around on her own," with a quick glance at her leader. "Oh and by the way, Midnightstar, you'll need to be in the nursery by the end of this moon," her amber green eyes were serious and her voice was firm. "You cannot hunt, patrol, or go to Gatherings next moon. Sorry, but that's the way it goes."
Then her voice was lighter, "Would you two like some freshkill?" Without waiting for an answer from either cat, the silver-blue medicine cat rotted outside and came back a moment later with a small rabbit for Midnightstar and a plump vole for Twilightsong.

Midnightstar watched with amusement as Twilightsong attempted to act nonchalant and that he didn't just faint in front of his leader and the medicine cat. "Yes, we are going to be parents." She confirmed with a soft chuckle at his silliness. "And not yet. I expect I should be able to feel them shortly, however." She twisted her body slightly, nudging his tentative paw tenderly with her nose.
She had to bite back a laugh when Twilightsong suddenly turned frantic and overprotective. She opened her mouth to respond, when Ripplestream reappeared and answered it for her. Laughing again, Midnightstar nodded in agreement with the medicine cat. "I'm fine, Twilightsong. I'm able to do a little walking. And you already brought me food, so I'm good." She told him airily, before turning to stare at Ripplestream with a shock expression.
"I'm fine! It's not that close to my due date, is it? I should be able to do at least something. I am still the leader, despite the fact I've been unconscious for part of it. At least let me patrol, or something. I want to be productive somehow." She argued back stubbornly, secretly knowing that her medicine cat was right. However, her stubborn side that had always gotten her in trouble before kept telling her she had to do something before she was confined to the nursery. Midnightstar turned to shoot her mate a menacing glare, knowing that he was about to speak up, agreeing the ludicrous (yet completely rational) idea of the medicine cat. With that, she retrieved the rabbit from Ripplestream and began to eat, seeming to have forgotten what she said about her hunger being fine.
(Nuuuu! -scrambles to find frying pan o' doom- Poor Middy's having trouble listening to the Ripplestream. rotfl.)

Ripplestream glared at her leader, a very uncommon thing for the medicine cat to do. "You'll obey orders," she meowed firmly. "You can go on patrols and such until the end of this moon, like I said before." She twitched her tail, "If you don't, you're kits will turn out sickly, I promise you that." Seeing the expression on Midnightstar and Twilightsong's faces, mostly Twilightsong though, her amber green eyes softened, and she meowed, "I'm not trying to scare you, but it will happen if you don't listen."
Then her features lightened up and she reminded Midnightstar yet again, "In a half moon, you're not going out of camp, do you promise me that?" The medicine cat, although younger than her leader, was acting as if she were the warrior and the ebony she-cat was her apprentice. She flicked her ears, prompting an answer from the expectant leader. She turned her gaze to the deputy, "If you catch her going on patrol, going hunting, or doign something else outside of camp, tell me." With a twinkle in her eye, she glanced at Midnightstar again for her answer.

(*giggles while watching Tilly hunt frantically for her frying pan* hey when you find it, fry me some eggs will ya? lol)
Twilightsong stepped back as Ripplestream entered and both of the females had a good laugh over his anxiousness. Twitching his whiskers and feeling somewhat embarassed, he scuffled his paws a little. He was working on a comeback when Ripplestream suddenly laid into Midnightstar, telling her she had to be confined in the nursery by the next moon. Twilightsong nodded and was about to open his mouth and add his two cents worth when Midnightstar shot him a murderous look.
Feeling his insides shrivel up and look for a place to hide, Twilightsong suddenly felt about two inches tall and swallowed. Yikes. Laying his ears back, he wondered how they'd keep Midnightstar in the nursery even if she did walk in there willingly. He didn't fancy having to sit on his own mate and felt instant pity for whoever would have to guard her. He momentarily thought about shoving Midnightstar's cheeky and rather vocal Apprentice, Blossompaw, in there and wondered who would need more sympathy after an hour, Midnighstar or Blossompaw. He'd probably need something for a headache regardless once they found him.
His eyes watched Ripplestream as she brought them something to eat and Midnightstar, apparently having worked up an appetite after glaring at everyone, dug into her rabbit with gusto. He pawed his vole as Ripplestream tartly reprimanded Midnightstar before asking him to report to her if his mate tried to get around the Medicine Cat's orders. Knowing Midnightstar would probably want to claw his ears off, Twilightsong spoke up anyways and decided he'd just take an extra evening patrol. She'd be asleep before he got back and too hungry in the morning hopefully to care.
He felt a twinge of guilt plotting against his mate and leader like that, but he didn't feel like answering to Ripplestream either. At least Midnightstar didn't have an arsenal of herbs to cram down his throat to cure his "mental insecurities" or whatever other jargon Ripplestream might try to invent as an excuse to chase him down and corner him in her den for who knows how long.
"Ah, she's right you know, um, dear." Twilightsong said, nervously smiling at Midnighstar. "You should um, consider this a sort of vacation. Yeah! You know, a chance to take it easy for awhile. And the kits. Yes, think of the kits. They could use, er, you resting. And eating. A lot. I mean you know, quietly... in the um, Nursery." Twilightsong said, coughing nervously and avoiding Midnightstar's gaze as he spoke.
Looking over at Ripplestream, he nodded at her request, fearing Midnightstar was plotting new ways to skin him during his sleep. "Um, sure. I'll get right on that... there." He said as he swallowed and hesitantly started to eat and hoped Midnightstar wouldn't kick him out of her den. He then wondered if maybe that wasn't such a bad idea afterall and felt guilty all over again. Gosh, and they said pregnancy was hard on the female...
